[Bug 1387881] Re: qemu fails to recognize full virtualization
This is a package dependency issue and not a kernel issue. Once davidpbritton installed 'qemu-kvm' he was able to install using virt- install just fine. [Bug 921208] Re: win7/x64 installer hangs on startup with 0x0000005d.
I tried running qemu-system-x86 -cpu qemu64 with tcg and kvm, and compared cpu flags. There are 2 flags present in kvm case which are not present in tcg case: de and x2apic, all other flags are identical (nx is present in both). But enabling these two flags explicitly does not help, win still BSODs the same way. [Bug 1388077] [NEW] Parallel periodic instance power state reporting from compute nodes has high impact on conductors and message broker
Public bug reported: Environment: OpenStack Juno release/Ubuntu 14.04/480 compute nodes/8 cloud controllers/40,000 instances + The change made in: https://github.com/openstack/nova/commit/baabab45e0ae0e9e35872cae77eb04bdb5ee0545 switches power state reporting from being a serial process for each instance on a hypervisor to being a parallel thread for every instance; for clouds running high instance counts, this has quite an impact on the conductor processes as they try to deal with N instance refresh calls in parallel where N is the number of instances running on the cloud. It might be better to throttle this to a configurable parallel level so that period RPC load can be managed effectively in a larger cloud, or to continue todo this process in series but outside of the main thread. The net result of this activity is that it places increase demands on the message broker, which has to deal with more parallel connections, and the conductors as they try to consume all of the RPC requests; if the message broker hits its memory high water mark it will stop publishers publishing any more messages until the memory usage drops below the high water mark again - this might not be achievable if all conductor processes are tied up with existing RPC calls try to send replies, resulting in a message broker lockup and collapse of all RPC in the cloud. ** Affects: nova Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nova (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: The change made in: https://github.com/openstack/nova/commit/baabab45e0ae0e9e35872cae77eb04bdb5ee0545 Switches power state reporting from being a serial process on each instance on a hypervisor to being a parallel thread for every instance; for clouds running high instance densities, this has quite an impact on the conductor processes as they try to deal with N instance refresh calls in parallel where N is the number of instances running on the cloud. [Bug 1388043] [NEW] /etc/mailname no longer used for outgoing message domain
Public bug reported: I've recently been setting up a new server using Ubuntu 14.04 to replace a 12.04 server, and found if not a bug, then at least a breaking change that doesn't seem to match up intuitively with the documentation. Both servers have postfix installed. (12.04 has 2.9.6, and 14.04 has 2.11.1, as reported by postconf mail_version.) Each have a hostname unrelated to their FQDN. On the 12.04 server, sending mail with the `mail` utility sends the messages as $user@$fqdn correctly. On the 14.04 server, sending mail with the `mail` utility sends the messages as $user@$hostname instead. There don't appear to be any differences in how they're configured. Even if I copy the whole /etc/postfix folder from the 12.04 server to the 14.04 server and restart postfix, the issue persists. To make sure I'm not crazy, I tested against new 12.04 and 14.04 VMs (using vagrant, which made it quick to test). Here are my notes. Please tell me if there's something I'm doing wrong or overlooking. #For 12.04 vagrant init hashicorp/precise64 #For 14.04 instead vagrant init ubuntu/trusty64 # Connect to the new VM vagrant up vagrant ssh # Now inside the VM sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install postfix mailutils # Pick option when presented # Enter the fqdn of "blahblah.org" # Note that the following has the machine's original hostname: hostname # and this has "blahblah.org": cat /etc/mailname # Run echo a | mail a...@example.com # Now check the logs to see who the email was sent as. # On 12.04, this will give results as expected: sudo fgrep "$u...@blahblah.org" /var/log/syslog # On 14.04, this one will give results instead: sudo fgrep "$USER@$(hostname)" /var/log/syslog ** Affects: postfix (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to postfix in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388043 Title: /etc/mailname no longer used for outgoing message domain To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postfix/+bug/1388043/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
