[Bug 1391452] [NEW] lxc-net fails to start properly after system crash: lock file
Public bug reported: The presence of /var/lock/lxc-net causes service lxc-net start to claim success but actually just do nothing useful. When the system goes down hard, /var/lock/lxc-net is not removed, fair enough. This means that systems require manual intervention after booting. You can reproduce the problem by crashing some processes and fiddling with lock-files, but this happens at every single hard reboot: faux@alohura:~% sudo service lxc-net stop lxc-net stop/waiting ## the presence of other dnsmasqs makes this all confusing to me, so let's just kill them anyway, even if they were started by NetworkManager faux@alohura:~% sudo killall dnsmasq faux@alohura:~% sudo killall dnsmasq dnsmasq: no process found ## simulate the lock-file being left over from a hard reboot faux@alohura:~% sudo touch /var/lock/lxc-net faux@alohura:~% sudo service lxc-net start lxc-net start/running ## we haven't bothered to start dnsmasq (or create the bridge interface or..) faux@alohura:~% ps aux | fgrep dnsmasq faux 10592 0.0 0.0 13680 2064 pts/4S+ 09:58 0:00 grep -F dnsmasq ## so containers won't start faux@alohura:~% lxc-start -n new lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 337 The container failed to start. lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 339 To get more details, run the container in foreground mode. lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 341 Additional information can be obtained by setting the --logfile and --logpriority options. faux@alohura:~% lxc-start -F -n new Error attaching veth494WIK to lxcbr0 Quota reached lxc-start: start.c: lxc_spawn: 930 failed to create the configured network lxc-start: start.c: __lxc_start: 1087 failed to spawn 'new' lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 337 The container failed to start. lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 341 Additional information can be obtained by setting the --logfile and --logpriority options. faux@alohura:~% The error message from lxc-start is very poor, too. This can be worked around by blowing away the lockfile, then restarting lxc-net. [Bug 517067] Re: Using virtio for block devices makes disks and partitions disappear in KVM/QEMU (using vmbuilder and libvirt)
Hi guys, I'm stuck on this, so I've made a patch. I'm not sure how to test it, perhaps someone give me some pointers? I tried out this bzr thing and it's super crazy. I can't find out how to fork and submit a pull request. I browsed through the commands of bzr and there was some launchpad stuff but none of it worked, either 500 exceptions or plain nothing happens. Then I found out I can't even few the patch after it was committed, but I could do send with -o to a file, so that's what I'm attaching. Sorry for whining :) hopefully we can work out if this patch is going to fix this issue. ** Attachment added: patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vm-builder/+bug/517067/+attachment/4258320/+files/patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to vm-builder in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/517067 Title: Using virtio for block devices makes disks and partitions disappear in KVM/QEMU (using vmbuilder and libvirt) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vm-builder/+bug/517067/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1368737] Re: Pacemaker can seg fault on crm node online/standby
The way this package's versioning was made makes the tool dh_makeshlibs (debian helper) not to append proper suffix to dependencies (using (= 1.1.10+git20130802) instead of (= 1.1.10+git20130802-1ubuntu2.1) for example). I changed debian/rules so the proper version is considered for dependencies: dh_makeshlibs -a -V dh_makeshlibs -plibcrmcommon3 -V libcrmcommon3 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -plibpengine4 -V libpengine4 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -plibpe-status4 -V libpe-status4 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -plibcrmservice1 -V libcrmservice1 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -plibtransitioner2 -V libtransitioner2 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -plibcib3 -V libcib3 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -plibpe-rules2 -V libpe-rules2 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -plibcrmcluster4 -V libcrmcluster4 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -plibstonithd2 -V libstonithd2 (= $(RELEASE)) dh_makeshlibs -pliblrmd1 -V liblrmd1 (= $(RELEASE)) And I recommend further releases not to use this versioning scheme, to guarantee dh_makeshlibs to work properly. 'strace' output of open-scsi looks basically the same as above. As I understand it, this is related to iSCSI's Netlink implementation not being namespace aware? [Bug 1389897] Re: no way to install enough qemu for kvm in a cross platform way
Having one kvm script with cases per arch is more fiddly. Do you use uname -m, or dpkg arch? If uname, does that mean the behaviour of qemu- kvm:arch changes depending on which kernel its run on, not depending on the userspace arch? Might be counterintuitive. Re: [Bug 1382257] Re: [SRU] Add readme to Azure's ephemeral (resource) disk
Chris, the upload for Trusty is correct, at least according to guidance I have received from the foundations team in the past. The guidance is that when the only difference between what is in a prior release and the current development release is the same sans the topic of the SRU, to backport the entire package. Since 15.04 has walinux_2.0.8-0ubunut3, and the only difference between ubuntu1 and ubuntu3 is the warning script, I simply backported the 15.04 package to 14.04 and 14.10. If the guidance has changed, I'll be more than happy to re-upload. ** Attachment added: 0x5406A866.asc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382257/+attachment/4258846/+files/0x5406A866.asc -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382257 Title: [SRU] Add readme to Azure's ephemeral (resource) disk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1382257/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
