The root cause of the problem has been determined to lie with the
apache2handler for PHP. It is not sufficiently up to date to function

I manged to re-install by first running:
sudo mv /etc/systemd/system/mysql.service ~/mysql.service.backup
then using apt-get to remove then install it again.

Hmm, and one more thing: qemu-nbd --disconnect (at least sometimes)
doesn't seem to be working when booting with systemd:
$ ls /dev/nbd0*
/dev/nbd0 /dev/nbd0p1 /dev/nbd0p2 /dev/nbd0p5
$ sudo qemu-nbd --disconnect /dev/nbd0
/dev/nbd0 disconnected
$ echo $?
0
$ ls /dev/nbd0*
/dev/nbd0
It seems that this bug consists of many partially independent bugs.

I'm mounting these qcow2 disk images in order to export a tarball of the
filesystem. First three tarballs exported swimmingly, but the fourth

reason it only runs the python2 tests?

After further analysis today, I realized my suggestion to correct the
configurations in catalina.properties to point at ${catalina.base}
instead of ${catalina.home} was WRONG.
The original suggestion of symlinks is a better solution, since the
location of ${catalina.base} may not always resolve
