2015-11-13 Thread Martin Pitt
Jackson, can you please do debian-ubuntu debdiffs instead of, or in
addition to ubuntu-ubuntu ones? we want to review and minimize the delta
to debian. The attached deb.diff can't be applied to anything as it
involves a new upstream version, so it's a lot of manual work to apply
this (way more than just doing the merge by myself).

[Bug 1516037] [NEW] lxc-start fails with 1.1.5-0ubuntu1

2015-11-13 Thread Colin Watson
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to lxc 1.1.5-0ubuntu1, lxc-start fails like this:

lxc-start: start.c: preserve_ns: 149 Permission denied - failed to open
'/proc/7170/ns/mnt'
lxc-start: start.c: lxc_spawn: 993 failed to store namespace references
lxc-start: start.c: __lxc_start: 1192 failed to spawn 'trusty-lpdev'
lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 344 The container failed to start.
lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 348 Additional information can be obtained by
setting the --logfile and --logpriority options.

This is with a trusty system container. precise system containers
behave similarly. I don't have others to try. Downgrading liblxc1,
lxc, lxc-templates, and python3-lxc to version 1.1.4-0ubuntu3 causes
lxc-start to work again.

[Bug 1515615] Re: Disk quotas don't work in LXC containers

2015-11-13 Thread Serge Hallyn
What do you mean by "not using real device"? The real lvm device is
mounted into the container. However actually offering the device node
into the container would not be a safe default. In particular, it
allows the container admin to write nonsense onto the device node,
feeding garbage into the in-kernel filesystem driver, and most likely
either DOS or gain privilege on the host.

If root in the container is trusted, then it should be possible to work
this out, but frankly noone seems to have wanted this yet.

There is probably an easier way to achieve what you want. For instance,
setting up quotas on the host for the container users/filesystems.

[Bug 1515463] Re: Broken juju LXC deployments

2015-11-13 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Brad, or anyone else affected,

Accepted lxc into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/1.0.8-0ubuntu0.2
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

This bug was fixed in the package lxc - 1.1.5-0ubuntu2

[Bug 1311387] Re: add a small default innodb_buffer_pool_size

2015-11-13 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Unfortunately, we have to ship _some_ default, even if it is not the
most appropriate in all cases. I think it's most appropriate to ship the
default that upstream consider best, and for 5.6 it is 128 MB. This does
mean that sysadmin intervention will be required to make mysql-
server-5.6 work on a t1.micro instance, but I don't see any reasonable
way around this (lowering innodb_buffer_pool_size would harm performance
by default on more common mysql-server-5.6 deployments, AIUI).

Having said that, I just noticed that you got a dpkg install error,
which I don't think should happen. We need to look into failing to start
the daemon more gracefully.

[Bug 1319362] Re: Update my.cnf keys for avoid shutdown errors

2015-11-13 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I see three separate issues in your report:

1) Deprecation warning about key_buffer. This was fixed in 5.6.25-2 in
Debian and the fix is included in the current 5.6.27-2 in Ubuntu.

2) Deprecation warning about timestamp with implicit default value. This
is an upstream bug. For clarity I have created Launchpad bug 1516010 to
track it.

Let's use other bugs to track the above two issues as required, and keep
this bug tracking your final issue:

3) Errors about /var/lib/mysql. It isn't clear to me that this is really
a bug as opposed to a local misconfiguration. You can find pointers to
get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community. Since we use this bug tracker
to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than configuration problems, I'm marking
this bug as Invalid. This helps us to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu. If
you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to
read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 525674] Re: apt-check hangs, preventing login via SSH

2015-11-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package update-notifier - 3.164

---
update-notifier (3.164) xenial; urgency=medium

  * debian/90-updates-available
- Now directly prints the cached info if available
=> avoid login stalls due to motd updates (LP: #525674)
- Also fixes a former potential issue of existing but not readable cached
info by changing the test from -e to -r
  * debian/99update-notifier:
- Now additionally triggers the an asynchronous background update of the
cached info via update-motd-updates-available hooking into
  APT::Update::Post-Invoke-Success.
  * data/update-motd-updates-available:
- This now only contains the slow part of actually 'updating the cached
  info'.
- It executes asynchronously to avoid stalling apt-get update.
- The file is no more called by pam to avoid login stalls.
- It also fixes an issue with concurrent updates clobbering the
cached file via mv being atomic
