[Bug 1517860] Re: Failed to fetch cdrom://Ubuntu 13.10 _Saucy Salamander_

2015-12-10 Thread Bryan Quigley
Hi Kenneth,

It looks like you have an old CD in software sources. Go to "Software &
Updates" > Ubuntu Software and Remove the CDrom drive option.

This doesn't appear to be a snmp bug so I'm closing it.

Thanks,
Bryan

[Bug 1481737] Re: HAProxy init script does not work correctly with nbproc configuration option

2015-12-10 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Peter, or anyone else affected,

Accepted haproxy into vivid-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/haproxy/1.5.10-1ubuntu0.2 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1510345] Re: [SRU] Cloud Images do not bring up networking w/ certain virtual NICs due to device naming rules

2015-12-10 Thread Will Buckner
Pardon me if I'm missing something, but I just launched a new c4.xlarge
instance using AMI ami-47723b2d from https://cloud-
images.ubuntu.com/wily/20151209/ .

The result was identical to Lawrence Rowe's original report. Same log
output, same interface names, no eth0. This bug report indicates that
this was fixed and released over a month ago, but the current cloud
images are still broken. Am I using the wrong image, or is there more
information I should provide to try to resolve this? Wiley is completely
unusable to me on EC2 currently.

Same issue for me on 15.10, but it didn't happen on 15.04.

Using the script-security 2 option in the configuration file, everything
works correctly when run from command line: "sudo openvpn --config

For me, this problem only happens when connecting through Network

[Bug 1524703] [NEW] Rsync 3.1 is extremely slow (ext4 » ntfs)

2015-12-10 Thread Kalimohan
Public bug reported:

I am using rsync for many years for various backup scenarios. One backup
goes from my KUbuntu 15.10 ext4 hard disk to a (Windos) ntfs share.

With rsync 3.0.9 from Ubuntu Precise this was a very fast and
comfortable task. Since rsync version 3.1.0 everything is extremely
slow. So I tried many things from removing (-a -z ...) to adding (-W
--modify-window=1 --inplace ...) rsync options, but no avail. There is
also no difference if the synchronization is via network or USB. With
other ext4 hard disks everything is just fine, as always.

I wasted a lot of time searching, but the culprit is rsync 3.1 alone.
Today I installed the old rsync version 3.0.9 from Ubuntu Precise and
voilà rsync is working again.

I do not understand why you provide a broken package and why it is
broken for so many years. Or does nobody else use rsync between ext4 and
ntfs?

[Bug 1511735] Re: libnl: fail to bind() netlink sockets

2015-12-10 Thread Nicolas Dichtel
It affects ubuntu-14.04, libnl version 3.2.21
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/libnl-3-200)
The first libnl upstream release which includes these patches is 3.2.25.

The problem happens when the libnl choose a port id already used by
another application. The libnl fails instead of trying another port id.

Please find enclosed a script to reproduce the problem:
$ ./example.sh
gcc -o example -I/usr/include/libnl3 example.c -lnl-3 -lnl-genl-3
set manually the local port to 12145 (pid: 12144)
local port has been set by the libnl to 12145 (pid: 12145)
genl_connect(): Object exists (local port: 12145, pid: 12145)

The first instance of example sets manually the port id to pid+1.
The second instance of example let the libnl calculate automatically the port
id. It chooses by default the pid, which is already used.

To summarize, if an application on the system chooses manually a port id
(because it does not use the libnl or because it sets it manually), it
may conflict with applications that use libnl and prevent them to work
properly.

[Bug 1524703] Re: Rsync 3.1 is extremely slow (ext4 » ntfs)

Now I have a reasonable configuration for this issue:
rsync -rvtDu --modify-window=1 --delete /from/tmp/ /to/tmp

I can live with that.
Case closed.

[Bug 1511735] Re: libnl: fail to bind() netlink sockets

2015-12-10 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your response. It looks like this is fixed in Wily then,
which is on 3.2.26, so this bug affects 14.04 only?

I'm concerned that this changes library behaviour. How can we be sure
that no existing users of libnl will not be regressed by this change in
behaviour if we backport this to 14.04?

> To summarize, if an application on the system chooses manually a port
id (because it does not use the libnl or because it sets it manually),
it may conflict with applications that use libnl and prevent them to
work properly.

Thanks, this is useful. But can you take us through to actual user
impact of this bug, please? I'm sure you have a concrete case for
wanting this, but so far this explanation is hypothetical. In what
concrete case on 14.04 does an application manually chose a port id that
then causes a conflict and causes a problem for a user?

2015-12-10 Thread Robie Basak
For now I'm marking this Fix Released as it is fixed in Wily, and
opening a task for Trusty (which depending on what we decide may end up
being Won't Fix).
