[Bug 1560315] Re: [needs packaging] juju2 beta is not in xenial

2016-03-23 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
I've added 12 dependencies for the go modules used by juju as depends in
in the control file. This is a step back in the proper direction. There
are a couple more depends we could add based upon what's in the archive
that is currently breaking the build (one of them is lxd). Beyond that,
we'll need to start getting packages created for the other dependencies
we need. I trust these changes make it more palatable towards entering
into universe.

[Bug 1561271] [NEW] updated s390x port

2016-03-23 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Public bug reported:

Michael Munday of IBM has asked us to update their s390x port before
Xenial release as they have fixed a few bugs. I've made an updated
package -- there was a little fiddling because one of the changes adds a
binary file. This also means that a debdiff doesn't really work and so
I've upload the package http://people.canonical.com/~mwh/golang-1.6/ .

[Bug 1561007] Re: Upstream Bug #3769: client_netmask not evaluated since Comm redesign

2016-03-23 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Hi, thanks for the bug report. I've made a patch with (I think :-p)
correct dep3 headers, attached, and also in my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~mwhudson/+archive/ubuntu/scratch/+packages. I
took the patch from the upstream 3.3 branch rather than your patches --
although I think the net effect is the same.

Can you fill out the test case and regression potential sections of the
bug summary? Then we can start the progress of getting it reviewed by
the SRU team.

** Description changed:

- NOTE: This bug is for trusty.
+ [Impact]

  http://www.squid-cache.org/mail-archive/squid-users/201403/0065.html:
  > This bug caused the client_netmask directive in Squid-3.2 and Squid-3.3
releases to have no effect. The designed behaviour of masking client IPs
  in logs is now restored.

  Upstream issue tracker: http://bugs.squid-cache.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3769

In all versions of squid3 between 3.2 and 3.4.4 a pretty severe bug
exists that disables the scrubbing of client IPs. Scrubbing of client
IPs is extremely important for any privacy-aware and risk-aware
  provider.

- Based on the bzr commit fixing the bug
-
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~squid/squid/3.4/revision/squ...@treenet.co.nz-20140212085229-edx2i4es622uo0gm)
- I made a patch. The diff of the bzr revision doesn't apply but the
- differences are solely due to cosmetic refactoring of method names in
- squid 3.4. I'm not familiar with the debian / ubuntu package maintenance
- tools so the patch ended up as a two-parter.
+ [Test Case]
+ TBD
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ TBD

** Patch added: "backoorted fix"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid3/+bug/1561007/+attachment/4609124/+files/squid3_3.3.8-1ubuntu6.6_3.3.8-1ubuntu6.7.diff

[Bug 1557248] Re: OpenLDAP: Backport a fix for use-after-free in GnuTLS-related code

2016-03-23 Thread Maciej Puzio
I created a PPA with patched deb packages, available at:
https://launchpad.net/~maciej-puzio/+archive/ubuntu/openldap
Currently it contains openldap-2.4.41 source package with the above patch
applied, as well as binary debs built from it, for amd64 and i386. These
packages are for Ubuntu 15.10 (wily), but I can make them for other Ubuntu
releases, if you would like that. I briefly tested the amd64 libldap,
ldap-utils and slapd packages, they installed fine and appear to work. I did
not test any of the i386 debs.

If you would like to install and test these packages, please run the following
commands:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:maciej-puzio/openldap
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Of course, please install them on a test machine, and not on the production
server.

You still have a broken install, like you did in Bug 1521786. I am
marking this a duplicate of that, as the issue remains the same.

Please follow my diagnostic instructions as I posted in the other bug

[Bug 1559571] Re: package nginx-extras (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: Unterprozess installiertes post-installation-Skript gab den Fehlerwert 1 zurück

2016-03-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Dead process with changes to your nginx.service file is bad, because it
looks like your systemd has changes to the nginx service, perhaps run
these:

sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo apt-get install -f

and see if anything fails. If it still fails, run this command again, and add
the output for it here:

systemctl -l status nginx.service

[Bug 1318027] Re: gccgo binaries cannot be stripped

2016-03-23 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
I asked about this upstream and the consensus was that stripping
binaries compiled with the gc toolchain should work and does work as far
as anyone knows: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/golang-
dev/ABppMOjYP6w . So the advice to avoid stripping Go binaries is
officially rescinded. Report breakages!

Gccgo is a different matter: binaries built with gccgo must not be
stripped. We could open a dialogue upstream as to how this requirement
could be lifted, but this has not happened yet TTBOMK.

[Bug 1551150] Re: devel-proposed - android lxc container fails to start

2016-03-23 Thread Ondrej Kubik
Finally some time to check more.
Using new /etc/init/lxc-android-config.conf from Stephane
http://paste.ubuntu.com/15264484/

When running manually $ lxc-start -n android -F -- /init
I can see init process be created, but then it exits. Also there are no logs in
syslog or /proc/kmesg
So looks like init is super unhappy inside the container and does not do much.

But because it actually tries to run, following passes fine
lxc-wait -n android -s RUNNING -t 30
containerpid="$(lxc-info -n android -p -H)"
if [ -n "$containerpid" ]; then

and tries to continue with boot, while container actually fails to boot.
Is there way we can get more logs from running container, I tried this:
lxc-start -l 0 -n android -F -- /init
rm: cannot remove '/var/lib/lxc/android/rootfs/sbin/adbd': No such file or
directory
run-parts: /var/lib/lxc/android/pre-start.d/10-no-adbd exited with return code 1
sed: can't read /var/lib/lxc/android/rootfs/init.manta.usb.rc: No such file or

What we had:

So, they should be added back in.

That said, the juju qa team hasn't spent any time this cycle on
adventures with golang packaging. What time we have had on distro tasks
has been sucked up basically packaging mongo 3 (and mongo 2.6 for
migration purposes).

[Bug 1560315] Re: [needs packaging] juju2 beta is not in xenial

2016-03-23 Thread Jamie Strandboge
The agreement between the juju core team, MIR, foundations and security
teams for 16.04 was that the juju would:

 1. test out use of -buildmode=shared/-linkshared for 16.04, but not be
committed to using them since the feature is new
 2. the number of embedded copies that juju uses as part of the 16.04 archive
release build would be significantly reduced by using 16.04 golang -dev
packages (bug #1508120). It is understood this number will be non-zero (ie,
juju will need to build with a few)
 3. juju is allowed to ship other embedded copies of software that aren't used
as part of the build to facilitate out-of-archive rebuilds on older releases

There appears to be no progress on bug #1508120, at least according to
the bug. What is the status of this?

What is the status of '1'?

Of the packages that juju2 is embedding, how many are used as part of
the 16.04 archive build?

[Bug 1561103] [NEW] Multipath assigned user_friendly_names during initramfs

2016-03-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

== Comment: #0 - Mauricio Faria De Oliveira - 2016-03-23 10:40:56 ==
---Problem Description---
Multipath assigned user_friendly_names during initramfs

In the initramfs, there's one call to multipath which has no -B argument
(local-premount).
It assigns new/different user_friendly_names to devices which might differ from
that in the rootfs.
The names should not be assigned during initramfs time, and dealt w/ during
rootfs time, then updated to initramfs accordingly.

--- Steps to Reproduce ---

Boot with break=pre-multipath,post-multipath:

Skip the 2 breakpoints in scripts/init-top/multipath.

...
(initramfs) exit
...
(initramfs) exit
starting version 229
...

Skip the 1st breakpoint in scripts/local-top/multipath.

(initramfs) exit
Begin: Loading multipath modules ... Success: loaded module dm-multipath.
Failure: failed to load module dm-emc.
done.
Begin: Starting multipathd ... Spawning shell within the initramfs
...

The multipath device names are not-user_friendly_names.

That is enabled, but there are no names defined in /etc/multipath/bindings,
so 'multipath -B' will not use user_friendly_names.

(initramfs) multipath -l -v1
36005076303ffd2a40349
36005076303ffd2a40348
36005076303ffd2a40347
36005076303ffd2a40346

(initramfs) grep user_friendly_names /etc/multipath.conf
user_friendly_namesyes

(initramfs) cat /etc/multipath/bindings
# Multipath bindings, Version : 1.0
# NOTE: this file is automatically maintained by the multipath program.
# You should not need to edit this file in normal circumstances.
#
# Format:
# alias wwid
#
(initramfs)

Skip until the 1st breakpoint in /scripts/local-bottom/multipath:

(initramfs) exit
done.
Begin: Running /scripts/local-premount ... Begin: Waiting for udev to
settle (multipath) ... done.
done.
...
Begin: Running /scripts/local-bottom ... Spawning shell within the initramfs
...

And now we've got user_friendly_names:

(initramfs) multipath -l -v1
mpathd
mpathc
mpathb
mpatha

That's because the multipath call in /scripts/local-premount/multipath
has no -B option.

(initramfs) grep multipath /scripts/local-premount/multipath
if [ -x /sbin/multipath ]
[ "$quiet" != "y" ] && log_begin_msg "Waiting for udev to settle
(multipath)"
multipath -r -v0

And it changed the contents of /etc/multipath/bindings,
which is not desired for the initramfs (may conflict w/ the rootfs's file).

(initramfs) cat /etc/multipath/bindings
# Multipath bindings, Version : 1.0
# NOTE: this file is automatically maintained by the multipath program.
# You should not need to edit this file in normal circumstances.
#
# Format:
# alias wwid
#
mpatha 36005076303ffd2a40346
mpathb 36005076303ffd2a40347
mpathc 36005076303ffd2a40348
mpathd 36005076303ffd2a40349
(initramfs)

--- Solution verification ---

On another boot, appending -B on that multipath command, things work
fine:

(initramfs) sed -i '/multipath -r/ s/$/ -B/' /scripts/local-
premount/multipath

(initramfs) grep multipath /scripts/local-premount/multipath
if [ -x /sbin/multipath ]
[ "$quiet" != "y" ] && log_begin_msg "Waiting for udev to settle
(multipath)"
multipath -r -v0 -B

(initramfs) exit # a few times until
...
Begin: Running /scripts/local-bottom ... Spawning shell within the initramfs
...

(initramfs) multipath -l -v1
36005076303ffd2a40349
36005076303ffd2a40348
36005076303ffd2a40347
36005076303ffd2a40346

(initramfs) cat /etc/multipath/bindings
# Multipath bindings, Version : 1.0
# NOTE: this file is automatically maintained by the multipath program.
# You should not need to edit this file in normal circumstances.
#
# Format:
# alias wwid
#
(initramfs)

[Bug 1473691] Re: [FFe] squid: Update to latest upstream release (3.5)

2016-03-23 Thread Kick In
I did some upgrade testing on squid3 and there are some troubles
apparently, I suspect and will try to modify debian/control to make it
work (at least for upgrade from xenial to xenial-proposed).

-
>From precise to trusty with squid3 + squid-deb-proxy +squidguard (to check
>squid/squid3 renaming with ubuntu deltas)

Last week it was ok (3.3.8-1ubuntu6.4), now upgrading from squid(3) +
squid-deb-proxy + squidguard is broken 3.3.8-1ubuntu6.6.
So it appears that I won't be able to test the full upgrade path from precise
to xenial

Squidguard would have created some troubles as it was still using
/etc/squid or /var/log/squid in precise version. It would have been
interesting to test because of this, but last upstream broke release
upgrade (last week it failed at starting service but continued upgrade,
now it doesn't allow the upgrade to finish).

The following are my upgrade tests from trusty to xenial:

long story short: it fails.

I'm in a two stages update due to the squid package being in proposed, first
stage from trusty to xenial current, and then to xenial-proposed.
I did the test two times one with installing with 'squid', and then with
'squid3'.

Both trusty setup were working squid3 + squidguard +squid-deb-proxy, and
basic conf was apply to check.

First step upgrade caused squidguard to stop working (certainly some API
related stuff), and squid-deb-proxy service seems broken, as I can run
it by hand. squid3 was still working.

squid3 service is renamed to squid, we need to warn or take appropriate
disposition as done in docker.io upgrade path.

Second step upgrade broke squid3. Logs/reference to follow.

squidguard and squid-deb-proxy are universe, but the upgrade path must be
checked with them also to get some real-world upgrade path.

[Bug 1560315] Re: [needs packaging] juju2 beta is not in xenial

2016-03-23 Thread Martin Pitt
FTR, I did an initial source NEW review of juju2. In the initial MIR bug
1267393 (two years ago) the deal was to *reduce* the embedded code
copies and replace them with golang-google-api-dev & co. build
dependencies. juju-core now does have a handful of those, but still an
awful lot of embedded copies which are available in the archive (such
as golang-github-bmizerany-pat-dev).

But the current juju2 package in NEW goes back to square 1: It *solely*
uses embedded code copies (including packages which are very active and
well maintained in Ubuntu such as lxd!), and there's now about 50% more
modules bundled.

Please rework the package to use archive dependencies as much as
possible. Thanks!

[Bug 1561056] [NEW] cinder volume driver's detach() causes TypeError exception on v1 cinder client

2016-03-23 Thread Corey Wright
Public bug reported:

Nova version: git master branch's HEAD (as of today)
Expected behavior: cinderclient v1 detach() called with accepted argument
Actual behavior: cinderclient v1 detach() called with too many arguments

Change I3cdc4992 indiscriminately passes both volume_id and
attachment_id to the Cinder client regardless of its version even though
Cinder client v2 supports passing volume_id and optionally attachment_id
to its volume manager's detach() method, but v1 does not, only accepting
volume_id.

Calling Cinder client v1 detach() with both volume_id and attachment_id
results in "TypeError: detach() takes exactly 2 arguments (3 given)"

Full traceback and proposed bug fix to follow.

[Bug 1522422] Re: Update to php 7.0

2016-03-23 Thread Colan Schwartz
There are plans to get Drupal 7 working with PHP 7, but there are still
some issues remaining. With everything that's going on with Drupal 8, I
don't think folks have had a chance to jump into this too deeply just
yet. For more information, see https://www.drupal.org/node/2454439.

I wouldn't focus too much on the Debian packages. In my experience,
they're not used very widely (as stated above) as there are usually
custom changes. So getting Drupal 7 running on PHP 7 (without the
Debian packages) would be the goal here. The packages aren't even
mentioned in the official installation guide,
https://www.drupal.org/documentation/install/download, or on the OS-
specific page: https://www.drupal.org/node/557908.

Having said that, though, I'd be curious to know if the package
maintainers had any insight they could share.

[Bug 1561007] [NEW] Upstream Bug #3769: client_netmask not evaluated since Comm redesign

2016-03-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb):

NOTE: This bug is for trusty.

> This bug caused the client_netmask directive in Squid-3.2 and Squid-3.3
releases to have no effect. The designed behaviour of masking client IPs
in logs is now restored.

Upstream issue tracker: http://bugs.squid-cache.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3769

In all versions of squid3 between 3.2 and 3.4.4 a pretty severe bug
exists that disables the scrubbing of client IPs. Scrubbing of client
IPs is extremely important for any privacy-aware and risk-aware
provider.

Based on the bzr commit fixing the bug
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~squid/squid/3.4/revision/squ...@treenet.co.nz-20140212085229-edx2i4es622uo0gm)
I made a patch. The diff of the bzr revision doesn't apply but the
differences are solely due to cosmetic refactoring of method names in
squid 3.4. I'm not familiar with the debian / ubuntu package maintenance
tools so the patch ended up as a two-parter.

[Bug 1556241] Re: installer sets "iface encf5f0 inet dhcp" although a static IP address was preseeded

2016-03-23 Thread Steve Langasek
ubuntu-snappy should not write out its separate network interface config
when installed on an Ubuntu classic system. mvo asked this to be filed
as a critical bug against ubuntu-snappy.

In general, the ubuntu-snappy firstboot task does not apply to an Ubuntu
classic system. While it sounds like the Snappy team will take steps to
disable this in the future, as a workaround for new installs, we can
make the installer touch /var/lib/snappy/firstboot/stamp on install.

[Bug 1556241] [NEW] installer sets "iface encf5f0 inet dhcp" although a static IP address was preseeded

2016-03-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

== Comment: #0 - Thorsten Diehl - 2016-03-11 12:49:44 ==
I installed xenial with installer version 432 and a preseed file that has a
IPv4 static configuration. Upon the initial boot after installation, everything
is fine, system comes up with network. When I perform a reboot, the network
service waits for "something" and prints continuously messages aka "A start job
is running for Raise network interfaces (3min 14s / 5min)". After that, the
network is up.
I found, that it was waiting for DHCP responses. (attaching /var/log/syslog).
/etc/network/interfaces looks like this:
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

source /etc/network/interfaces.d/*

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto encf5f0
iface encf5f0 inet static
address 9.152.162.158
netmask 255.255.252.0
network 9.152.160.0
broadcast 9.152.163.255
gateway 9.152.160.1
# dns-* options are implemented by the resolvconf package, if installed
dns-nameservers 9.152.120.241
dns-search boeblingen.de.ibm.com
/etc/network/interfaces.d/encf5f0 looks like this:
allow-hotplug encf5f0
iface encf5f0 inet dhcp
which seems to be the cause. After removing the second line, it worked as
expected.

Not sure, whether this is the best approach. I just wanted to point to
the root cause. But starting a dhcp client when you have a static IP
address configured is definitely wrong.

[Bug 1204530] Re: yppasswd results in a segmentation fault when run on clients or server

2016-03-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
[Impact]

 * The bug is a segfault on yppasswd rendering users unable to change their
passwords
 * justification for the SRU is the continued request by users and the fact
that it is a very minimal change
 * the fix ensures that a lib accessing data unconditionally only gets called
if the values are properly initialized

[Test Case]
 * install nis
 * Config in /etc/default/nis:NISSERVER=master
 * Config in /etc/yp.conf:   ypserver 127.0.0.1
 * Initialize with
 $ sudo /usr/lib/yp/ypinit -m
 $ restart rpcbind
 * Test if your config works
 $ ypcat passwd
 should show something like
 ubuntu:x:1000:1000:Ubuntu:/home/ubuntu:/bin/bash
 * Trigger the bug
 $ yppasswd -p ubuntu
Changing NIS account information for ubuntu on wily.localdomain.
 Please enter root password:
Changing NIS password for ubuntu on wily.localdomain.
 Please enter new password:
 Segmentation fault (core dumped)

[Regression Potential]

 * While it is assumed to not regress, if it does it is affected to break
yppasswd even more (and while more than a segfault is hard to imagine I mean it
might even break for those people that today got around it by some complex and
weird workarounds.)
 * The code is only local to the tool yppasswd and it is not part of a lib or
so, so the impact - if any - should stay local

[Other Info]

 * I really want to encourage the users reporting it being important to them
testing it once in proposed to have more than just my tests.
 * I wanted to nominate to be able to keep tracking Wily as Fix Released and
Trusty as pending but that doesn't seem to work.
It would be great if the Sponsor with the proper permissions could also set the
proper "Affects" status for those two releases

2016-03-23 Thread Andres Rodriguez
MAAS power types are not available under /etc/maas/templates/power
anymore. These power types are now embedded in the code. The reason why
you are seeing why you are seeing is because the Rack COntroller is not
connected to the Region Controller. Please file another bug for the
connection issue, if that's what you are having. Howeve,r this bug in
specific is not a bug.

[Bug 1204530] Re: yppasswd results in a segmentation fault when run on clients or server

2016-03-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Ok, I did the backport.
This package is somewhat scary old at some places (no patches, dh compatibility
level 1 - well undefined).

Yet I was able to keep changes minimal and the changes that went into
the Debian upgrade from .33 to .34 applied as is.

It is building fine in trusty.

I revived my old testbed and confirmed that the fix is really fixing the issue.
With the fix it was working cleanly changing the PW back and forth where it
formerly segfaulted as reported in this bug.

[Bug 1559912] Re: Openvswitch 2.5 + dpdk 2.2 totally failing for virtio PMD

2016-03-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
After quite some analysis and debugging I could identify an issue regarding
double configuring the device.
Daniele replied to the mailing list request I had and suggested backporting an
virtio fix that came after 2.2.

That worked well, with backporting these I can get it to work now.
Thanks Daniele.

commit 3b1e3e4e362453df8cecbc6d481444be8b84326e
virtio: fix descriptors pointing to the same buffer
commit c680a4a88c4312068f60937a7ba51eac8211c9a6
virtio: fix crash in statistics functions
commit 9a0615af7746485d73d10561cc0743bc2fcd4bf7
virtio: fix restart

Of those
commit 9a0615af7746485d73d10561cc0743bc2fcd4bf7
virtio: fix restart
is directly tied to this bug.

While the other two will become part of bug 1559981 (the general cherry
picking stability fixes bug)

[Bug 1560839] Re: libdpdk0 should provide a package for debug symbols

2016-03-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Reading through dh_strip since we have no old -dbg package to care about
it might be enough to just do:

export EXTRA_CFLAGS = -g

- the export makes sure we build it for all binaries
- dh_strip magically does the right thing and should create a dbgsym packages
as appropriate

[Bug 1560839] [NEW] libdpdk0 should provide a package for debug symbols

2016-03-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Public bug reported:

DPDK is great but still bleeding edge from time to time.
So debugging is likely to happen at some point.
Therefore it would be great to have an explicit -dbg or implicit -dbgsyms
package such with debug symbols for DPDK 2.2 in Xenial.

[Bug 1536882] Re: upload golang1.6 package for trusty

2016-03-23 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
One last time, hopefully for sure. This is what I did:

1) Created two ppas:

https://launchpad.net/~mwhudson/+archive/ubuntu/go16-trusty-3
https://launchpad.net/~mwhudson/+archive/ubuntu/go16-trusty-2-dep

2) Had both PPAs devirted and enabled for all trusty architectures.
3) Set go16-trusty-2-dep as a dependency for the go16-trusty-3 PPA
4) Copied with binaries golang-1.6 to trusty in the the go16-trusty-2-dep PPA:

./copy-package --from=ubuntu --from-suite=xenial
--to=~mwhudson/ubuntu/go16-trusty-2-dep -b --to-suite=trusty golang-1.6

5) (Waited for publication, and) uploaded a golang-1.6 package to the
go16-trusty-2 PPA with the following debdiff:

http://people.canonical.com/~mwh/golang-1.6_1.6-0ubuntu1_1.6-0ubuntu1~14.04~stage1.diff

which resulted in the following builds:

https://launchpad.net/~mwhudson/+archive/ubuntu/go16-trusty-3/+sourcepub/6226205
/+listing-archive-extra

6) Removed go16-trusty-2-dep as a dependency for the go16-trusty-3 PPA
7) (Waited for publication, and) uploaded a final golang-1.6 package to the
go16-trusty-3 PPA with the following debdiff:

http://people.canonical.com/~mwh/golang-1.6_1.6-0ubuntu1~14.04~stage1_1.6-0ubuntu1~14.04.diff

which resulted in the following builds:

https://launchpad.net/~mwhudson/+archive/ubuntu/go16-trusty-3/+sourcepub/6226283
/+listing-archive-extra

8) Checked the build logs of the latter packages to make sure they built
with the ~stage1 package.

And this final package, is, finally, ready for copying to trusty.

(I have verified that the golang-1.6 debs and the golang debs currently
in trusty do not try to install any of the same paths, so there is no
need for Conflicts or anything like that)
