I suspect that the problem is still there.
The fix has been released, but the same error message is still there.
I have a freshy installed clamav-daemon
sudo apt-get install clamav-daemon
Look what I have got:
anat...@nlango:~$ clamd
ERROR: Can't open /var/log/clamav/clamav.log in append mode
