The issue was that the uec-testing-scripts were not starting the
instances in the correct group. euca-run-instances wasn't using the -g

Why is upsd not started by default ? Is there a reason why the upsd
should not be started by default ?
When a package is installed it should work out of the box with a sane
default configuration.

DIRECTORY_NAME/'
replacing SERVER_NAME, SHARE_NAME and DIRECTORY_NAME with your values ?

Could you confirm that using a dynamic IP with windows works correctly ?
Could you check if the hostname is resolvable (both hostname to IP and
IP to hostname) when using a dynamic IP with Hardy ? Could you compare
with using a dynamic IP with windows ?
