To clearify the problem: After upgrading 8.04 -- 8.10, file writes via CIFS have been broken. CIFS normally reads or creates files, but it fails to write into existing file. To reproduce the problem: Try open in midnight commander or in leafpad any file via mounted cifs, make tiny changes and try to save. You'll got the write error !
