[Bug 1445509] [NEW] pm-hibernate should fallback to pm-suspend on Kernel change

2015-04-17 Thread Daniel Hahler
Public bug reported:

Using pm-hibernate might be prevented by /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d
/000kernel-change.

In this case it would be useful if it could (optionally?) fall back to
pm-suspend.

Also, "gnome-session-quit --power-off" should display the "Hibernate"
action as greyed out / disabled right away.

I am using gnome-session-quit 3.9.90-0ubuntu12 and 1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1 (the later
now upgraded to 1.4.1-15).

[Bug 1007924] Re: pm-utils uses wrong interface for NetworkManager hook (should be org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.Sleep)

2014-05-24 Thread Daniel Hahler
@Andreas Mohr:

1. I would suggest poking the upstream bug report (possibly e-mailing
Victor Lowther (at gmail) directly, who did the latest commits for pm-
utils, see "git log" of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/pm-utils).

2. Since there are no Ubuntu related changes, it makes sense to fix it
in Debian (see the Debian bug report).

3. For updating released packages, e.g. for 12.04, see the procedure at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates .

[Bug 1038044] Re: munin-node: apt_all does not Grok Ubuntu (possible regression)

2012-08-18 Thread Daniel Hahler
Thanks for your patch!

You might want to handle the case where lsb_release is not installed/executable
and then fallback to the Debian default instead of exiting.
(I do not know if the dependency of lsb_release is fulfilled when installing
munin-node)

Apart from that the patch looks decent and you might want to submit it
upstream (to Debian) directly: http://bugs.debian.org/munin-node - it
would be fine to get it committed to Ubuntu first and then forward it to
Debian though (e.g. via submittodebian).

The relevant patch appears to be: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/karmic/munin/karmic/revision/15/debian/patches/221-apt-

I think that this should be generalized to work also with Debian by

merge of 2.0.5 for munin (which has to be done still AFAICS).

Without much investigation I think that dnsmasq should only be triggered
after /etc/resolv.conf has been updated/changed, but not too early.

>From resolvconf(8):
Subscribers that need to know only when the resolver configuration file
has changed should install a script in /etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/
rather than in /etc/resolvconf/update.d/. This is important for syn‐
chronization purposes: scripts in update-libc.d/ are run after
resolv.conf has been updated; the same is not necessarily true of
scripts in update.d/. Examples of packages that do this are fetch‐
   mail(1) and squid(8).

[Bug 978356] Re: squid3 gets killed at startup with dnsmasq and no networkmanager

2012-05-15 Thread Daniel Hahler
For what it's worth, this does not happen with the squid-deb-proxy
package (which uses squid with an optimized config) - at least after
several boot processes.

The init/start script is different, for example, it uses
"start on (local-filesystems and net-device-up IFACE!=lo)"
instead of
"start on runlevel [2345]".

Sorry, I've just now recognized that you have a patch already, and so any
workarounds might be void.
Have you uploaded it to a PPA already?

Do you want to propose this patch upstream in Squid's Bugzilla?

[Bug 978356] Re: squid3 gets killed at startup with dnsmasq and no networkmanager

2012-04-25 Thread Daniel Hahler
Do you think adding a workaround like "sleep 5" above the "reload" into the
resolvconf script makes sense and is good enough for a workaround in Ubuntu
Precise?
Would it be possible to add a loop to detect if the SIGHUP handler is properly
setup already (and send HUP only after that)?
Another idea might be to "restart" instead of "reload".

Where does the HUP signal come from?
Could "squid3 -k reconfigure" get used there instead? (if it's specific to
squid3)

(I assume you've meant that squid's handler is being installed to late

[Bug 940420] Re: munin-update crashes when enabling tls. fix by updating munin packages to 1.4.5 or higher

2012-03-29 Thread Daniel Hahler
This requires a Stable Release Update for Ubuntu Lucid (see
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/SRU ).

Everything after Ubuntu Lucid (Maverick and up) should have the fix
according to the version being used.

[Bug 910563] Re: munin amavis: Malformed configuration line in munin amavis file

2012-01-17 Thread Daniel Hahler
This is fixed at least in 1.4.6-2ubuntu2 (current development release).

I am closing this report therefore as "Fixed".

To update an existing release (10.04 in your case), a
StableReleaseUpdate would be required, see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/SRU .

[Bug 878597] Re: rabbitmq-server fails to uninstall

2011-10-22 Thread Daniel Hahler
This means that the process was still running when the script tried to
remove the user.

http://wiki.debian.org/AccountHandlingInMaintainerScripts discusses if a
system user should get deleted after all.

However, the server process should have been stopped anyway.

See bug #387945 about this issue in couchdb.

- return $return_timestamp,

[Bug 879853] [NEW] Munin upload 1.4.6-1ubuntu1 drops fixes / sponsor debdiff instead

2011-10-22 Thread Daniel Hahler
Public bug reported:

The following upload drops patches that had been added to fix bugs,
without any reason/argument (upstream_add-timeout-to-legal-options.patch
and upstream_bug_832.patch).

munin (1.4.6-1ubuntu1) precise; urgency=low
upstream_bug_832.patch
  * Merge from debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- debian/rules: Remove sysvinit symlinks.
- debian/control: Add libwww-perl as a dependency.
- debian/rules, debian/munin-node.upstart. Convert to upstart
+ Dropped:
  - upstream_bug-975-fixed-in-1.4.6.patch
  - pstream_bug_952.patch
  - upstream_add-timeout-to-legal-options.patch
  - upstream_bug_832.patch
  - upstream_bug_1009.patch

Apart from that, I had prepared this merge for Oneiric already in bug
840386, which was not sponsored because of minor cosmetics in the end
(which the above upload is lacking, too):

munin (1.4.6-1ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low

  * Merge from debian unstable (LP: #840386). Remaining changes:
- debian/rules: Remove sysvinit symlinks.
- debian/control: Add libwww-perl as a dependency.
- debian/rules, debian/munin-node.upstart, debian/munin-node.dirs,
  debian/munin-node.postinst:
  Convert to upstart
- debian/patches/upstream_bug_832.patch (backported upstream fix):
Fix "munin-cgi-graph fails on multigraphs" (LP: #729719)
- debian/patches/upstream_add-timeout-to-legal-options.patch
  * Fix sensors_fan for sensors output without minimum values
(LP: #840449).
- debian/patches/lp_840449_sensors_fan_minimum_is_optional.patch
  * Fix "mysql_ plugin fails when MySQL compiled without INNODB"
(LP: #757617)

  * Fix postfix_mailvolume when logfile is missing
(LP: #800845).
- debian/patches/lp_800845_postfix_mailvolume_missing_logfile.patch
  * Drop patches being applied upstream:
- upstream_bug_990.patch
- upstream_bug-975-fixed-in-1.4.6.patch
- upstream_bug_952.patch
- upstream_bug_1009.patch

[Bug 862728] [NEW] Please stop defaulting to VCS="bzr"

2011-09-29 Thread Daniel Hahler
Public bug reported:

It is getting quite annoying to have to setup $VCS to reasonable VCS all
the time (or at least when upgrading from Natty to Oneiric).

Please stop this.

Bazaar is being pushed by Canonical, but it sucks so much compared to
Git that it does not make any sense to change the package default from
git to bzr.

[Bug 840386] Re: Update munin to bugfix release 1.4.6

2011-09-28 Thread Daniel Hahler
I don't understand what you mean with the beginning of comment 2:
  > 2) debian/changelog - some of the changelog comments for Fixes have got
muddled with the Merge comment - makes it a little difficult to read

Also, this is the entry for upstream_bug_832.patch, which is annotated already:
 - debian/patches/upstream_bug_832.patch (backported upstream fix):

Fix "munin-cgi-graph fails on multigraphs" (LP: #729719)

I do not want to forward anything to Debian before it has been uploaded
to Ubuntu.

I'm attaching a new debdiff fixing the first issue.

Please feel free to change minor things like this in debian/changelog or
any patch headers when sponsoring the upload.

[Bug 840449] [NEW] Munin expects current and minimum value for fan sensors, but only current is provided by lm-sensors

2011-09-03 Thread Daniel Hahler
Public bug reported:

The regular expression in the sensors plugin expects two RPM values,
current and minimum (see http://munin-
monitoring.org/browser/trunk/plugins/node.d.linux/sensors_.in?rev=4128#L93
for the regular expression).

I am having two setups where only the current value gets shown:

thinkpad-isa-

fan1: 3273 RPM

Adapter: ISA adapter
+3.3V: +3.41 V

Vbat:+3.26 V
fan1:986 RPM
fan2: 0 RPM ALARM
fan3: 2290 RPM
fan4: 0 RPM ALARM
temp1: +41.0°C (high = +255.0°C, hyst = +251.0°C)
  (crit = +255.0°C, hyst = +251.0°C) sensor = Intel PECI
temp2: +75.0°C (high = +255.0°C, hyst = +251.0°C)
  (crit = +255.0°C, hyst = +251.0°C) sensor = transistor
temp3: +39.0°C (high = +255.0°C, hyst = +253.0°C)
  (crit = +255.0°C, hyst = +253.0°C) sensor = transistor

Munin should consider the minimum to be optional.

[Bug 720071] Re: munin-node amavis spam stats

2011-02-27 Thread Daniel Hahler
I have now looked at the log format/output.
Looking for "Blocked SPAM" is clearly a good idea when counting blocked spams,
which the other pattern depends on the configuration.
Would it be possible to get the barrier for spam easily from the amavis conf,
and then use this for the "maybe spam" pattern?

[Bug 720071] Re: munin-node amavis spam stats

2011-02-27 Thread Daniel Hahler
Marking as Triaged.
Please note that you can easily add required information to a bug using
"apport-collect $BUGNR".

Apart from that, this should get submitted to the upstream bug tracker,
if it still affects the current upstream release - which is the case
apparently: http://munin-
monitoring.org/browser/trunk/plugins/node.d/amavis.in

I wonder why this has not been reported against the munin project
though.

Tim, do you feel like forwarding it to the upstream tracker at http
://munin-monitoring.org/newticket (requires an account there), or should
I do this for you?

[Bug 713646] Re: IPv6 functionality in ip_ plugin assumse #!/bin/sh being bash

The proper fix would be to remove the bashism "function", and define the
function as:
  iptables() {
  /sbin/ip6tables "$@"
  }

Apart from that, I cannot see why it uses eval here - the original suggestion
in ticket #439 by "jodal" did not do so.
I will bring this up in the upstream tracker, but I cannot login there
currently.

[Bug 699967] Re: Empty list of plugins/services with hostname containing uppercase letters

2011-02-08 Thread Daniel Hahler
Regarding the SRU for Maverick:
The following issues have been found by ari-tczew looking at the patch
(#ubuntu-motu):
 - debian/changelog should have maverick-proposed as pocket instead of maverick
 - you are patching node/lib/Munin/Node/Server.pm directly, instead of using
the patch system (where you are referring to upstream_bug_952.patch, but not
including it). Please add the patch instead of patching the source directly.

[Bug 699967] [NEW] Empty list of plugins/services with hostname containing uppercase letters

2011-01-07 Thread Daniel Hahler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: munin

I've upgraded my munin-node instance on my OpenVZ hardware node to
1.4.5-1 from Debian testing, but this caused the list of services to be
empty (via "telnet localhost 4949", then "list").

Downgrading to 1.4.4-1~blueyedppa2 (basically a backport of 1.4.4-1 from
Debian).

There are plugins installed (quite a lot), and I can run them manually
using munin-run.

[Bug 697181] Re: DoS: Infinite loop processing 2.2250738585072011e-308

2011-01-07 Thread Daniel Hahler
Maybe it is related to some compiler flags? (e.g. it can be worked around by
using "-ffloat-store" in CFLAGS).
See http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2066084 for more discussion.

[Bug 627227] Re: ChrootDir(mpm_common) and DocumentRoot issues

2010-12-21 Thread Daniel Hahler
A better work around might be to use a symlink setup like:
  # ls -l /var/www/var/www
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 2 Aug 18 19:08 /var/www/var/www -> ..

This allows me to use /var/www from inside and outside the chroot.

I am using mod_chroot however (just learned that ChrootDir is in the
core now, but it works differently; see bug 687275).

[Bug 687275] Re: Fix "graceful" action in init script when mod_chroot is enabled

2010-12-21 Thread Daniel Hahler
That would be nice to have as a built-in functionality, but apparently
it differs from mod_chroot.

I have added "ChrootDir /var/www" to /etc/apache2/conf.d/my_defaults,
but it seems like the fastcgi processes now get started outside of the
chroot / before Apache chroots:

I am getting the following error (only /var/www/usr/lib/libc-client.so.2007e
exists, not /usr/lib/libc-client.so.2007e):
/var/www/bin/php4-fcgi: error while loading shared libraries:
libc-client.so.2007e: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Apart from that there appears to be another problem, fastcgi processes
(PHP) return "Service Temporarily Unavailable", while requests to normal
resources (image) work fine.

This is likely also related to the order in which chrooting and spawning
the fastcgi processes happens.

I am using mod_fastcgi.

[Bug 687275] [NEW] Fix "graceful" action in init script when mod_chroot is enabled

2010-12-08 Thread Daniel Hahler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apache2

The init script uses "$APACHE2CTL graceful $2" to gracefully
restart/reload Apache.

This will fail however when using mod_chroot (where Apache itself gets
chrooted), and therefore the init script should fallback to "restart" in
this case for "reload", "force-reload" and "graceful".

This might get done by adding the following code to "reload":
if [ -f /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/mod_chroot.load ]; then
# mod_chroot is loaded. "graceful" won't work.
apache_restart
else
# normal reload code
fi

The current block from "restart" would get abstracted into a
"apache_restart" function, which would get called in case mod_chroot is
loaded/enabled and for when "restart" itself is requested.

I have code like this in the "dpkg-old" init script, but do not remember
if I had written it myself.

This should get forwarded/applied to the Debian package, too - I'd just
like to get some feedback before forwarding it.

too/#comment-2274 for some reasoning (where I was arguing to have it in
the dotdeb repository, which has it enabled for CLI only).

Couldn't we add "ExtendedStatus On" to the default configuration via

[Bug 538840] Re: ntpd should synchronize time faster/earlier during/after boot

2010-07-15 Thread Daniel Hahler
This is caused by a missing "iburst" keyword with the "server" lines.

Ubuntu:
server ntp.ubuntu.com

Debian:
server 0.debian.pool.ntp.org iburst
server 1.debian.pool.ntp.org iburst
server 2.debian.pool.ntp.org iburst
server 3.debian.pool.ntp.org iburst

I had myself the following, without the iburst (which I've now added):
server 0.de.pool.ntp.org iburst
server 1.de.pool.ntp.org iburst
server 2.de.pool.ntp.org iburst

** Summary changed:

- ntpd should synchronize time faster/earlier during/after boot
+ ntpd default config misses "iburst" / takes minutes to synchronize initially

[Bug 538840] Re: ntpd should synchronize time faster/earlier during boot

2010-07-15 Thread Daniel Hahler
No, I don't think that would help: ntpd gets started quite early
already, but it takes up to some minutes after logging into KDE before
the time gets fixed.

Therefore, I think it would require ntpd to be more aggressive with
fixing the time initially.

[Bug 598385] Re: munin plugin exim_mailqueue has incorrect graph configuration

2010-06-25 Thread Daniel Hahler
Thank you for your bug report, I have forwarded it upstream - also to get
feedback on the correctness of the patch: I am not sure if the whole blocks
should get swapped instead - or if it does matter at all.
Can you elaborate on your fix maybe (e.g. what STACK and AREA stand for)?
(sorry for being ignorant of looking this up myself)

[Bug 587684] Re: Inexplicable green line towards the top of graphs

2010-05-30 Thread Daniel Hahler
Thank you for your bug report, however, it is invalid:

This green line is the "OK line" - any values above it will trigger a
warning, i.e. if some disk is > 92% full, munin will consider this to be
not OK any more.

I do not know if this can be turned off, you would have to look in the
documentation or request this to be configurable.
If you find out anything in this regard, please consider leaving a note here.
