[Bug 1336816] Re: ubuntu 14.04 maas fails to start moonshot nodes

2014-07-03 Thread Hamed Hemmati
HP was able to figure out the issue. IPMItool is required to be
installed on the cluster controller in order for the moonshot nodes to
be powered on. Please add that to the documentation thanks.

The work around fixed the problem with r200 and poweredge 850 as well.

[Bug 1336816] [NEW] ubuntu 14.04 maas fails to start moonshot nodes

2014-07-02 Thread Hamed Hemmati
Public bug reported:

When I power up the nodes they boot with pxe and get enlisted. Their
power type is set to iLo4 with the IP and user/password of the iLo
management module and the power hardware address. However the node won't
start when I try to commission it. If I manually start the node then it
commissions.

I am not too familiar with moonshot since I just received this unit so I
am not sure if there is something I am missing or this happens to be a
bug.

** Affects: maas (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1336816] Re: ubuntu 14.04 maas fails to start moonshot nodes

2014-07-02 Thread Hamed Hemmati
After discussing this with HP engineers. They are telling me that maas
is supposed to enlist the nodes with IPMI2.0 not the iLo4.

[Bug 1321885] Re: IMPI detection and automatic setting fail in ubuntu 14.4 maas

2014-06-20 Thread Hamed Hemmati
I am having problem with Dell servers too. Just like Juan I decided to
go back to 12.04 but ended up with JuJu just not working properly so now
I am back to 14.04 trying to figure out why the Dell servers don't get
their power type set. The only Dell server that did get its power type
set was poweredge 2950 all the other ones have issues for me. Even if I
set the power type manually they still don't startup.

[Bug 1321885] Re: IMPI detection and automatic setting fail in ubuntu 14.4 maas

2014-06-20 Thread Hamed Hemmati
I tried but I just had too many issues with juju and 12.04. So far the
only issue I have with 14.04 is the fact that some of my poweredge
servers aren't getting their power type set. Other than that juju seems
to work fine on the other ones.

I rather just get the power type issue resolved and take advantage of
the new maas features than go back to 12.04 and have to upgrade in 6
months.

[Bug 1321885] Re: IMPI detection and automatic setting fail in ubuntu 14.4 maas

2014-06-20 Thread Hamed Hemmati
Yeah I was able to bootstrap just fine on the dell server that got its
power type set. I haven't tested charms yet because I can't get any of
my other dell servers to startup since their power types aren't getting
set.

Juju has just evolved too much to be compatible with maas that comes
with 12.04.
