With 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2.3 (Trusty) the alt-tab completion works, but the
character isn't echoed back.

sftp> get nave

Attempts to enter a character (AltGr+a for æ or AltGr+[+i for ï, for
example) simply results in an error beep, which is new but thoroughly
useless and a step backwards.

[Bug 1415566] [NEW] /etc/nova/nova.conf too minimalist

2015-01-28 Thread Ken D'Ambrosio
Public bug reported:

Working through the documentation (in this case, specifically
http://docs.openstack.org/juno/install-guide/install/apt/openstack-
install-guide-apt-juno.pdf), most all of the config files reflect the
things that need tweaking, with sections carefully defined. For
nova.conf, there is mention of [database], [glance], and
[keystone_authtoken] sections, none of which exist. After asking the
OpenStack list, they asked me to open a bug against the file, so that it
could be a bit better fleshed-out, and do a better job as a template.

Thanks!

[Bug 1411757] [NEW] update to latest msgpack-python release

2015-01-16 Thread Ken Dreyer (Red Hat)

msgpack-python version 0.4.4 is out on PyPI. Would you mind updating the

[Bug 1411030] [NEW] backport support for unix domain sockets

2015-01-14 Thread Ken Dreyer (Red Hat)
Public bug reported:

Background: Ceph's RADOS Gateway (RGW) is a web application that
provides an S3- and Swift-compatible interface to Ceph. RGW uses
mod_proxy_fcgi in Apache 2.4.

In the Ceph team's testing, the RGW application performs much better
when using Unix Domain Sockets with mod_proxy_fcgi. On older versions of
Apache that do not support Unix Domain Sockets, RGW must use TCP sockets
instead, which do not perform as well.

The upstream Apache project shipped Unix Domain Socket support in
version 2.4.9. Since Ubuntu Trusty has Apache 2.4.7, I'd like to request
that the Ubuntu Apache maintainers backport Unix Domain Socket support
into their 2.4.7 package.

(Here is some background information posted to ceph-devel:
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.file-systems.ceph.devel/22552 )

[Bug 1400299] Re: rocksdb ftbfs on ppc64el with -03

2014-12-08 Thread Ken Dreyer
We should get this reported to Ceph upstream.

Ceph is bundling an old copy of rocksdb (ugh), and I wonder if this is
fixed in a later version of rocksdb.

By the way, my hunch is that the reason that Ceph bundles rocksdb is
because it was not packaged in the distros at the time that Ceph wanted
to use it. Is it now packaged in Ubuntu?

[Bug 1293679] [NEW] lxc-create --help gives conflicting information about -t switch

2014-03-17 Thread Ken Sharp
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1271531] [NEW] Specifying cgset -r multiple times fails

2014-01-22 Thread Ken Sharp
Public bug reported:

From the man page:

-r name=value
  defines name of the file to set and the value which should be
written to that file. This parameter can
  be used multiple times.

However:

$ cgset -r cpu.cfs_quota_us=1 -r cpu.cfs_period_us=5 gomez
controller cpu can't be add

...it fails.

Seems to work with memory.* for some reason. Checking with cgget
confirms that the values have not been set.

This works fine:
$ cgset -r cpu.cfs_period_us=5 gomez
$ cgset -r cpu.cfs_quota_us=1  gomez

[Bug 1259939] [NEW] ssh -g has no effect if master socket already open

2013-12-11 Thread Ken Sharp
Public bug reported:

From the man page:
 -g Allows remote hosts to connect to local forwarded ports.

When working with a control socket, this works fine if -g is included
with the initial connect attempt, for example:

$ cat ~/.ssh/config
Host *
ControlMaster   auto
ControlPath ~/.ssh/%r@%h:%p

$ ssh -gTfNL 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:12345 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN  -

$ lsof -n

ssh   182446user3u IPv4   76397177   0t0
TCP 192.168.0.9:51181-192.168.0.15:ssh (ESTABLISHED)
ssh   182446user4u IPv4   76397181   0t0
TCP *:3128 (LISTEN)
ssh   182446user5u IPv6   76397182   0t0
TCP *:3128 (LISTEN)

and similarly:

$ ssh -g host
user@host:~$ exit
$ ssh -gTfNL 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:12345 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN  -

However, if it isn't then -g is ignored on subsequent attempts to
forward ports:

$ ssh host
user@host:~$ exit
$ ssh -g -L 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

tcp0  0 127.0.0.1:12345 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN  -

$ lsof -n

ssh   182399user3u IPv4   76390396   0t0
TCP 192.168.0.9:51178-192.168.0.15:ssh (ESTABLISHED)
ssh   182399user4u unix 0x   0t0
76390976 /home/user/.ssh/user@host
ssh   182399user6u IPv6   76392394   0t0
TCP [::1]:3128 (LISTEN)
ssh   182399user7u IPv4   76392395   0t0
TCP 127.0.0.1:3128 (LISTEN)

This doesn't really make sense: ssh should still be capable of binding
to the correct address as requested.

[Bug 349913] Re: sftp: cannot enter umlauts like ä, ö, ü

2013-12-10 Thread Ken Sharp
Version: 1:5.9p1-5ubuntu1.1

Still present.

Still cannot enter characters but using tab to auto-complete will work
so long as the file does not begin with a foreign character:

sftp get caf\303\251
Fetching /tmp/café to café
sftp get na\303\257ve
Fetching /tmp/naïve to naïve
sftp get anasth\303\246sia
Fetching /tmp/anasthæsia to anasthæsia

Sadly entering the \303\246ether for æther doesn't work.

[Bug 941874] Re: (fakeraid) root device not activated during boot

2012-03-18 Thread Ken Persing
OK, no idea if this will help, but when I get thrown into initramfs,
when running 'dmraid -ay', it says the raid volume is already activated,
but in /dev I only have the raided drive (dm-0) and not any of the
partitions (dm-1 and dm-2). Booting from a rescue disk, I have the same
problem and after running kpartx (iirc, kpartx -a /dev/dm-0, I'm not in
front of my pc), the devices appear and can be mounted.

So, if the dmraid udev tool is supposed to take care of running
kpartx... it's not working.

btw, drives are running under isw : Intel Software RAID (4x120gb
agility 3s, sda-sdd), so I'm not sure if I'm affected by the lack of awk
and sed hooks as martin pointed out earlier...

Cheers,

Ken

[Bug 604753] Re: [eglibc] process shared mutex's fail on armel v7 (thumb)

2011-02-21 Thread Ken Werner
I think this the issue has been fixed by #643171. I do not see this
testcase failing using a recent (e)glibc and GCC. Could anyone of the
original reporters check if it works for them? Please make sure that you
use at least glibc 2.12.1-0ubuntu11 and GCC 4.5.

[Bug 604753] Re: [eglibc] process shared mutex's fail on armel v7 (thumb)

2011-02-17 Thread Ken Werner
I had a quick look into the apr sources. Their locks/unix/proc_mutex.c can map
the proc_mutex functionality to various methods:
 1) Posix sem implemenation (see mutex_posixsem_methods)
 2) SysV sem implementation (see mutex_sysv_methods)
 3) pthread implementation  (see mutex_proc_pthread_methods)
 4) fcntl implementation(see mutex_fcntl_methods)
 5) flock implementation(see mutex_flock_methods)

I think only the pthread implemenation (3) is of interest here. The creation of
the pthread_mutex happens at:
  locks/unix/proc_mutex.c:proc_mutex_proc_pthread_create
that calls pthread_mutex_init with the following attributes:
  PTHREAD_PROCESS_SHARED, PTHREAD_MUTEX_ROBUST_NP, PTHREAD_PRIO_INHERIT
The apr-phthread-mutex functionality relies on pthread_mutex_lock and
pthread_mutex_trylock. The eglibc implemenation for such a mutex calls
atomic_compare_and_exchange_val_acq (see also lll_lock/lll_trylock at
ports/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/arm/nptl/lowlevellock.h) which goes down to
__arch_compare_and_exchange_val_32_acq. Using  (e)glibc (= 2.12.1-0ubuntu11)
and GCC (=4.5) this expands to __sync_val_compare_and_swap
(ports/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/arm/nptl/bits/atomic.h) which should be safe
even on a SMP system.

Some infos regarding the atomic memory operations can be found at:
https://wiki.linaro.org/WorkingGroups/ToolChain/AtomicMemoryOperations#implementation%20details

The next step would be to check whether the testcase fails using a
decent GCC and eglibc (Ubuntu Natty for example).

I ran the apr testsuite (svn revision 1071306) several times and I
notice that the testlock:test_timeoutcond test fails sometimes because
the timer returned to late. Not sure sure if this is related.

[Bug 579723] Re: kvm memory ballooning is unusable in Lucid

2010-06-22 Thread Ken Arnold
I also hit this bug after upgrading to lucid, and found an explanation
of the root of the problem here: http://www.mail-archive.com/libvirt-
us...@redhat.com/msg00328.html.

The upstream fix is
http://libvirt.org/git/?p=libvirt.git;a=commit;h=7a90f21655aedc35cf711264498ebb4a1b783c8a.
It applies cleanly to the version in Lucid. I went ahead and tried the
ppa referenced in the email (ppa:dnjl/virtualization), and ballooning
(and everything else) seems to be working great.

[Bug 578179] [NEW] No write permission on smbmount on XP machine, if the shared folder is more than 1 word

2010-05-10 Thread Ken Weill P. Lumacad
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

I have a windows xp machine. With shared folders named, My Documents,
Private, Cafe Files, Softwares. All of these folders have sub-
folders in it. All these folders have read-write permission enabled.
(Allow network users to change my files: shared settings in XP ).

Opening these folders through Nautilus (press CTRL+L, then enter:
smb://192.168.0.15), all of those 4 shared folders are there. But I can
only write to Private and Softwares folders. I can't write to My
Documents and Cafe Files directly. I mean, i can't write to the main
folders of My Documents and Cafe Files but i can write on their sub-
folders.

As I have observed, shared folders with space on their names, i can't
write to them. Like My Documents and Cafe Files. I can only write to
their sub-folders, not in their main folder.

No problem with shared folder with one word only. Like, Private or
Softwares. I can write to their main folder and sub-folders.

I hope this information is enough. I have seen old bug report about this
one, but the status is already set to invalid. We have the same
problem with the reporter of that bug. It's just that his explanation is
not very clear.

[Bug 511888] [NEW] Samba Panic

2010-01-24 Thread Ken Pratt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

I see this several time a day in roots email.

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 5608 ().

This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
However, the executable could not be found for process 5608.
It may have died unexpectedly, or you may not have permission to debug
the process.

This started happening as soon as I placed a Windows 7 computer on the
local net.

[Bug 40189] Re: autofs needs to be restarted to pick up some shares

2010-01-13 Thread Ken Arnold
Our site configuration stores auto.master in NFS for ease of updating.
(Yes it should perhaps move to LDAP, but that is beyond my control.)
Karmic autofs starts correctly about half of the time, depending on
whether the NFS mount finishes before autofs gets around to reading its
config. (I'm not sure if this is the exact same bug.) We clearly want
autofs to start when an interface comes up. (In fact, our particular
configuration requires that a _particular_ interface be up, but that may
be out of scope of this bug.)

[Bug 412972] Re: bad signal mask of ssh sessions

2009-10-05 Thread Ken Bloom
This looks related to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=549376, as I (the original reporter of that bug)
am seeing the same SigBlk mask on my root sshd process. It may also be
related to https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=271 where sshd
was inheriting a bad signal mask from somewhere else.

[Bug 412972] Re: bad signal mask of ssh sessions

2009-10-05 Thread Ken Bloom
I'm running Debian Unstable booting with file-rc, and there are several
system daemons that have screwy SigBlk masks, of which sshd is one. They
are listed in the attached commands file.

You can get the data for a similar report on your own machine by running
the following commands (as root):

grep SigBlk /proc/*/status | grep -v   commands
for x in  $(grep SigBlk /proc/*/status | grep -v  | sed -e
's@/proc/\(.*\)/status...@\1@g'); do echo -n $x:; cat
/proc/$x/cmdline; echo; done  commands

After running this, I cleaned things up a bit in vim to better organize
the report.

Perhaps people experiencing this bug on Ubuntu could run a similar
report?

Bingo. The bug is at

already been fixed in udev.
