[Bug 1092595] [NEW] logrotate not packaged

2012-12-20 Thread Michael DeHaan
Public bug reported:

The cobbler package (at least in 12.04LTS) does not package the
logrotate script that is included upstream (and is included by the
Fedora and EPEL packages)

https://github.com/cobbler/cobbler/blob/master/config/cobblerd_rotate

This should be included so logs don't grow infinitely

Thanks!

[Bug 1092598] [NEW] cobbler-register not packaged

2012-12-20 Thread Michael DeHaan
Public bug reported:

The 'cobbler-register' script that is included with cobbler upstream can
be used to add new servers to an existing cobbler server database.

The 'cobbler-enlist' script that Ubuntu includes (seemingly for
Orchestra, which I'm told is deprecated, so I suspect cobbler-enlist
should no longer be packaged) is a native C program that seems to
overlap largely with the upstream script.

I am suggesting that we include cobbler-register in the 'cobbler'
package to enable enlistments. Seeing it's a Python script, it's a lot
easier to debug and see what is going on, and upstream can maintain it.

[Bug 1092120] [NEW] Cobbler PXE menu template mislabelled as MAAS

2012-12-19 Thread Michael DeHaan
Public bug reported:

On installing cobbler for non-MAAS purposes I found out that
dhcp.template is adapted from upstream.

The label in vi /etc/cobbler/pxe/pxedefault.template says Ubuntu
MAAS, when Cobbler can be installed easily without MAAS.

Basically the MAAS installer should replace this file only if we're
actually configuring MAAS, and otherwise the menu presented to users
should still say Cobbler.

** Summary changed:

- DHCP template mislabelled as MAAS
+ Cobbler PXE menu template mislabelled as MAAS

[Bug 898840] Re: 'default' preseed should be enlister

2012-12-19 Thread Michael DeHaan
Preseeds need to be modified upstream.

old bug, though this is relevant -- https://github.com/jtopjian/cobbler-
admin/tree/master/snippets

it's a collection of pressed changes to try to bring cobbler's
capabilities for EL/Fedora to Debian/Ubuntu.

In particular, I'm missing the pxe_just_once feature which is QUITE
useful when combined with power management.

https://github.com/jtopjian/cobbler-
admin/blob/master/snippets/ubuntu_late_command

enlist is not an upstream thing so pre seeds should not rely on it
(unless upstreamed), but there is a built-in registration hook

Off topic -- do you know anything about where cobbler-enlist came from?
Upstream has cobbler-register and it's native python. Enlist is not
upstream.
