Hi Andrew, Installing that version (rsync_3.1.1-3 from the Vivid repo in this case - no dependency problems) on the machine initiating (which is also the target) the rsync didn't fix it. However, installing it on the source machine as well seems to have fixed the problem. [Bug 1244713] [NEW] invalid syntax for check_ssh plugin

Since upgrading to 13.10 our check_ssh has been failing with the
error:Usage: with an unknown state.
After a little digging it seems that the following file has the incorrect
definition for the check_ssh checker:
/etc/nagios-plugins/config/ssh.cfg
Specifically the first section:
define command{
command_namecheck_ssh
command_line/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_ssh '$HOSTADDRESS$'
'$ARG1$'
}
Changing the command _line like this fixes the issue and checks resume as
normal:
command_line/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_ssh '$HOSTADDRESS$'

I can confirm this bug still exists in mysql-server-5.1 (5.1.30-2ubuntu3), from an upgrade of Intrepid to Jaunty, then installing 5.1.
