Hmm... /var/lib/eucalyptus/nodes.list does have the node that was added, but
euca_conf --list-nodes does not show it. Also, I'm seeing in
/var/log/eucalyptus/registration.log:

Observed behavior: running euca_conf --discover-nodes appears to successfully
register one node(?). However, euca_conf --list-nodes shows no nodes. In
addition, /etc/eucalyptus/eucalyptus.conf lists no nodes. Oddly
