I believe this is fixed in QEMU 0.14... referring to changelist (first paragraph) on http://wiki.qemu.org/Changelog/0.14#virtio The references I gave above specifically referenced the authors applying the 'bottom-half' fix, although they did not, as I recall, mention what the fixed was against.
