Well, I guess this isn't an import issue enough to warrant an SRU? Figure the proper solution is to report the bug upstream to Debian, and keep on eye on it during Karmic development? Before I submit a report to the Debian BTS, I guess I wouldn't mind a second opinion on the solution applied in my debdiff.
