I think its something todo with: dpkg: warning: files list file for package `mysql-server-core-5.5' missing, assuming package has no files currently installed.
dpkg: warning: files list file for package `mysql-client-core-5.5' missing, assuming package has no files currently installed. The mysqld binary is provided by mysql-server-core-5.5 - and it appears to be missing when mysql-server is configured which is not correct. It looks like you system might be in an inconsistent state (might be todo with " find / -iname ‘mysql*’ -exec rm -rf {} \;" if you ran it - not good advice IMHO). Please try reinstalling the effected packages: sudo apt-get install --reinstall mysql-server-core-5.5 mysql-client- core-5.5 Hopefully this will resolve your issue. Marking 'Invalid' as I think its because of the actions you took to un- install previously.
