It seems to have been fixed for me. I suspect that you're either not running
the AMI you think you are, or some process of your own is adding entries to
/etc/fstab.

Thanks for testing. I think I was a bit too fast on this one. I think
you are right. They are rebooting, but all of my HVM instances took a
very long to reboot yesterday: 10 min. So i thought they were stuck
and I terminated them.

Apparently the fix hasn't made it into the daily releases of Natty on
EC2.
This is especially troublesome for someone trying to boot a HVM instance
with CUDA enabled, because a reboot is needed after installation of the
NVIDIA dev drivers.
Here is a one-liner for a quick fix:
