Sorry, I shouldn't have changed it without comment. The XAuthLocation option appears to work for me. sudo mv /usr/bin/xauth /usr/bin/xauth- ssh -X localhost gives Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding. ssh -X -o XAuthLocation=/usr/bin/xauth- localhost gives
