Yes, the problem starts with the apparmour protection system not knowing
it should be allowed serial port access. However, I tried to edit
/etc/apparmor.d/tunables/ntpd to change the line to:
@{NTPD_DEVICE}=/dev/ttyS0
then restarted /etc/init.d/apparmor but that did to help, however,
adding this

@{NTPD_DEVICE} device is added as read-only, but most of the GPS like
things I have seen using serial ports are subject to writing to

Now I see the true bug here. I setup WindowsXP to use the virtio block
driver and now as predicted I can't boot from it. After removing the
wrapper script it seams that GRUB hangs during boot.
Could there be a problem with the int13h driver?

use is in the work/ directory. The init.d script should not set
-Djava.security.manager nor -Djava.security.policy because those are
indeed set by catalina.sh whenever catalina.sh is invoked with

address on any NIC of the machine on which Tomcat runs. So, a network
prefix of 0 is what it should use, instead of 32. Thanks for spotting
