I never saw the issue with saucy. Downgrading to 1.5.0+dfsg-3ubuntu5.1
certainly appears to have resolved the issue for me, so it's looking
like a regression introduced by 1.6.0+dfsg-2ubuntu4.

i added. As mjt has pointed out it has a lot of cruft in it. I'll have
to drop it and try to come up with a smaller patchset.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, I'm
going to mark this bug as Invalid because of the following reasons:
- this bug does *not* apply to the maas version available in precise.
- While the PPA where you installed MAAS from is a stable one, it is still a
