And why do you? On any HD, that is big enough for even a humble
A/V-Production another 100-200 MB for an Officesuite, that may prove
handy sometimes is irrelevant.

I was puzzeled also when I saw these messages some years ago. Do not
fear! The meta-packages like US-audio are not the real packages but only
lists of them. Removing a meta-package does *not* remove the software
installed by it.

I totally LOVE Ubu Studio 13.04; am using 64 bit.
What is the ubuntu-studio-devel mail list? Since the forums are down until the 
hackers invasion problem is solved,
and I am a slow typer, mailing lists and forums are my best choice. There are a 
multitude of IRC's (I avoid because of my lacking typing skills), wikis, advice 
related sites, etc.,
out there and I am still unaware of the Linux world suggested prorocols!

Actually, Ubuntu Forums is BACK UP. Sorry for not telling you and the
mailing list that. You will have to use Ubuntu Single Sign-on to use
the Forums, but otherwise it's the same old stuff.

Ubuntu-Studio-Devel list is for interested developers and contributors
of Ubuntu Studio, in which we discuss development, testing,
documentation, artwork and other matters.

As the different workflows are to be reviewed, could you describe in what
way you need LibreOffice in combination with Scribus? Is it LibreOffice

I think a DE-agnostic evolution is very desirable!

Also I agree that less (programs) is better. As much as I've learnt to 
appreciate libreoffice, even installing it on kde, I don't see a point 
to include it in Ubuntu Studio. That's what we've got repos for...

(which same as us does not have LibreOffice as default). We might add

I like the idea of including LibreOffice. It's what I missed most from 
the DVD image. A complete package of office tools many would make use 
of, IMO. But I am a 'general software single pc owner'. ;^)


Still, is LibreOffice what UStudio is about? Is it useful to many, or few?

I think I agree with Ralf -- not a rare thing.
When I first learned about Ubuntu Studio I took the for creative humans
line seriously and I guess literally.
I am a film-maker and writer (sort of not-very-retired) and a serious
amateur fine-art photographer. Oddly, I never thought of Studio as solely
for sound folks, even though I subscribe to and read LAU because silent
films have become oddly unpopular over the years..
I use Libre, but I also like and use Abi on my laptops.
I guess my vote would be to use the smaller one on the initial download,
but make sure there is nothing in the distro that would prevent using
Libre, Abi, or OpenOffice or post a clear warning about any conflicts if
there are any.
Also, having the suggested (and presumably tested with the distro)
additional tools obviates a lot of this discussion, doesn't it?

with more feature like libre office. I have a problem with abiword. I
couldn't see the table when i open docx file. So installed
libreoffice. I have founded no problem.

 I am a film-maker and writer (sort of not-very-retired) and a serious
 amateur fine-art photographer. Oddly, I never thought of Studio as solely
 for sound folks, even though I subscribe to and read LAU because silent
 films have become oddly unpopular over the years..
 I use Libre, but I also like and use Abi on my laptops.
 I guess my vote would be to use the smaller one on the initial download,
 but make sure there is nothing in the distro that would prevent using
 Libre, Abi, or OpenOffice or post a clear warning about any conflicts if
 there are any.
 Also, having the suggested (and presumably tested with the distro)
 additional tools obviates a lot of this discussion, doesn't it?
