Right, that is what I had in mind. That way we would avoid to drop
translations which are in LP only. Is that what you think we should do?

@Walter: systemd ought to be ok now (bug #1707898).

Thanks @Sebastien and @Gunnar. As for @Sebastien's question, the place
where I don't see any of my Transifex translations is:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/bionic/+source/fcitx/+pots/fcitx/ca/+translate?show=untranslated

Same thing for other packages like "systemd", which I translated with a
pull request in Github, but shows as completely untranslated in
Launchpad.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1701170] Re: missing closing b tag in german translation of downgrade action label

2018-02-21 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
This is the URL:

https://translations.launchpad.net/synaptic/main/+pots/synaptic/de/398

So it was fixed in Launchpad on 2017-06-30. However, on artful I get:

$ echo $(LANGUAGE=de gettext -d synaptic '%s will be downgraded
> ')
%s wird durch eine ÄLTERE VERSION ERSETZT

So not fixed in the package, and I see that it hasn't been fixed in
bionic either.

The package maintainers need to do a translation update.

(In other words: There is no fix availble to test yet.)

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1749673] Re: Fcitx translation to Catalan not imported

2018-02-21 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Fcitx is now in universe, so the upstream translations - including
Catalan - are installed via the fcitx-data package in /usr/share/locale
in bionic and available to the users that way, but since it's in
universe, the upstream translations won't be imported to LP any longer.

One question is if we should keep fcitx in the LP translation interface.
The fact that the package has been translated into a few languages in LP
but not upstream speaks for keeping it. But in that case I suppose we
should re-enable translation stripping.

@Sebastien: Any thoughts?

thanks Gunnar, you don't need to change the builddir though, you can use
"ninja -C obj-$(DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE)" which is the default one

ideally we would teach dh_translations to get the domain for meson

../panels/ubuntu/cc-ubuntu-panel.c:417"
  "Located in ../panels/mouse/gnome-mouse-properties.ui.h:5

  When translating in Russian, the words "Left" and "Right" must be translated
differently in these two places. One translation for both contexts leads to
inconsistent and ridiculous result.
  I can guess that this is also valid for some other languages, not only
Russian.

  Please make two independent translations in Rosetta for "Left" and
  "Right" in these two different contexts.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1747272] Re: Polkit dialogs of snapd are not translatable

2018-02-21 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Gunnar, do you think you could put a pull request on github for that
change? That's where the snappy team is doing reviews,
https://github.com/snapcore/snapd (feel free to ask on IRC if you need
help with git or github)

  missing closing b tag in german translation of downgrade action label

Status in Ubuntu Translations:
  New
Status in synaptic package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  When downgrading a version of a package, e.g. `firefox` the following
  warning is printed to console:

  ```
  (synaptic:22903): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to set text 'firefox wird
durch eine ÄLTERE VERSION ERSETZT
  ' from markup due to error parsing markup: Fehler in Zeile 2, Zeichen 10:
Element »markup« wurde geschlossen, aber das derzeit offene Element ist »b«
  This seems to have no impact on the behaviour of the program, but
  should be fixed anyway.
