I am a Mandriva refugee! I know rpm inside out, but not apt. When I issue the above, sometimes I see e.g.: 26 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and *132 not upgraded*. (KDE updates coming down). If I use the gui or synaptic, it will let me update fully. Why won't it do it from a

Upgrade ignores some packages and dost-upgrade tries to do more. Aptitude is often said to be better and supports safe-upgrade and full-upgrade as the equivalents to the above apt-get commands. Aptitude is said to have a better dependency resolution algorithm. Anton On 3 Sep 2010 13:44, Mark
