I am considering on applying to Ubuntu membership. It's been over a year now,
and my contributions have been more or less sustained, from weekly news to
quality assurance to even packaging (though the package failed to get into the
Saucy cycle).
Do you suggest that I give it a shot

I attempted to upgrade my tower from 13.04 - 13.10 via the GUI
and afterwards the command line but no success. My machine
has an SSD for the boot drive and /tmp pointed to real RAM.
The GUI downloads the 2-files in the very beginning and then brings
up some error message.
