be seen in a log file but without success. I changed the /usr/lib/pm-
utils/pm-functions script to give me some more timing info. The only

Yes, my guess is Oliver is having an unrelated bug that just happens

I had this same problem with the Dell Studio 1555. You need to boot
into recovery mode and reinstall the proprietary ATI drivers.
It worked like a charm after that, but if you would really like to downgrade:

Thanks, installing the proprietary ATI once again fixed it (but apt-get
upgrade doesn't help... had to a apt-get install xserver-xorg-
core=2:1.6.0-0ubuntu14 xserver-common=2:1.6.0-0ubuntu14 to get the
original X-Server versions back).
So I have a running 3D Desktop now, that takes 1 to 3 seconds

8200, are you still having problems with this issue? I notice you have
an AGP card, and these symptoms are not uncommon with AGP due to
conflicts between the AGP card and the motherboard's host bridge, and
can be worked around by trying different AGPMode settings.
