I installed the proposed patch, computer hangs upon reboot. SysReq keys won't
work , hard reboot needed. So I logged in in recovery mode and reinstalled xorg
without the ppa
I'm not sure this is an issue with the openchrome driver. I copied the
openchrome driver from jaunty ltsp to the karmic ltsp, well expecting it
wouldn't work at all, because it was compiled for a different kernel.

This is almost certainly a video driver problem. I had the same problem
many years ago when using Netscape Navigator (!) to watch Flash videos
on OS/2 Warp 4. Skin was always blue. Skin in still images was the

Update:
Tested the solution from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8341194
not satisfying. Vol+/- keys do not cause notify-osd to do wild flickering
anymore but multiple key presses (raise/lower volume by 2 or more steps) are
not possible anymore.
Maybe the problem is not the xserver?
