Oddly enough, two-fingered scrolling can be enabled in Gnome from the
command line, but not from the GUI. Run the following command:
gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/scroll_method 2
--type int
This will enable two-fingered scrolling. The appropriate radio button

acceleration from flash player's settings (Right click - Settings...)

It did remove the minimise/maximise delay, but it introduced big black
sections within the application windows - especially when using
Thunderbird or Nautilus. The windows basically looked like they were

thanks for your suggestions. I did the following:
- uninstalled fglrx driver (latest distributed with Ubuntu - ATI driver version
10.5 I believe) reverting back to the open source driver
- reverted back to unpatched xserver
- rebooted into recovery mode
- installed the new ATI driver
@Henrqiue: Can you be more specific than saying it doesn't work? For
example, does the gnome-mouse-properties GUI show that two-fingered
scrolling has been selected, or not?
Also, please try saving the attached file as 11-touchpad.conf into your
/usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/ directory, in addition to

Why do you remove the patched Server. The Server has absolutly nothing

Running lucid, I upgraded my xorg stuff to the latest, and built the

I am heading same issue. After install 10.6, system did not see my card, jockey
is empty, because new installer removes package xorg-server-fglrx and not
contains newer version. So I am using ubuntu's older one.

Similar problem with an HP mini with Intel graphics... After upgrade to
Lucid I didn't get fglrx but I did get nvidia-current taking over from
mesa/intel.
This lead to the problems detailed by others in bug 570659. I was also
getting 'no OpenGL available' messages from various apps when using
Bah. This was fixed in xorg-server (2:1.8.1.902-0ubuntu1), but I
clearly didn't extend the changes log far enough back.
Fixed in Maverick.

I have a similar problem where the system will completely freeze when I plug a
second monitor in. No dock in use in this case.
As soon as I plug in a screen to the RGB plug the system freezes, screen goes
blank and the caps lock light starts to flash.
I recall testing this on a live CD before

changing When laptop lid is closed; form Suspend to Black screen?
Then restart and close the lid and re-open it. This should see whether
suspend is an issue or if it's just a lid-close problem.
