Purging the fglrx driver and installing the 10.2 drivers for my card
fixes this. I now only need vga=795 and nomodeset to be end the hanging.
I wish that ubuntu could do this out of the box.

Hi I have same bug on Acer emachines E642 notebook. It has ATI Mobility
Radeon HD 4250 videocard. This bug disappeared when I installed new
driver ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver via jockey-kde. It

make would fail until I installed libpciaccess-dev like this:

Finally managed to get the requeste peek
Seems like the latest kernel at least allows me to get to a working
desktop.

I have stopped using hibernation because of it, i will test it as soon
as i get a chance to confirm its still there.

I have a problem with my E6400 laptop which i connect to my HP f2105 external
monitor.
I always use 1 monitor at a time.
When i switch from the external HP to the internal Dell monitor the Dell
monitor fails to enable,
