I just got to see the (kind of) duplicate bug 716143. This assertion
and (hasattr(v[0], 'isalnum') or hasattr(v[0], 'read'
would hit if the value that gets passed is neither a string nor a file

Hello I tried to run the live cd of ubuntu ubuntu 11.04 and 10.04.2 and

1) is the simplest solution as xerver-xorg-video-7 and xserver-xorg-video-all

I was messing with a different disk today and I noticed the most current
nvidia driver works in addition to the -96 driver.
I deleted all the loaded nvidia packages, then deleted the nouveau
package, then with the gui tool installed the nvidea-185 package and
then rebooted.

X-Window-System crashes due to Kopete
Public bug reported:
Install ubuntu-10.10 and fglrx on a amd64 desktop with an AMD GPU. Say
apt-get install digikam, run digicam and point it at a folder with more
than 16 or so images. In this case it's a AMD Radeon 5770 with 1GB ram.
Sweep out/select more than 16 of the thumbnails and fglrx

Disabling vesafb makes this problem go away.
Yes, this fixes it for me on my Sony VAIO Z i5, which has both the Intel gpu
and a nvidia 330M.

Post # 9 worked for me, I lost touchpad and keypad after updates, Broadcom
started working but I could'nt do anything with it!!
I used USB mouse and keyboard to open terminal to run:
sudo apt-get install gpointing-device-settings touchfreeze
After reboot the Linksys wireless card, touchpad, AND
Add to my post #137---
Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx
Dell Inspiron 2650too old for Windoz, so awfully slow--- working good with
