Fix confirmed.
In other news, my nouveau drivers also stopped working, so I was
convinced I had a hardware problem. I haven't investigated the nouveau
issue any further.

Well, if you're saying it's kernel version dependent it seems best to
assign it to the Linux package.
Could you include a dmesg /var/log/Xorg.0.log from both kernels

exact same problem here.
I use the packages xserver-xorg-input-wacom and wacom-dkms from
ppa:doctormo/wacom-plus for some months without problems on Lucid.
updates came
grep -i wacom -R /var/log/dpkg.log

1:0.10.11-0ubuntu7
No, and even no MAC address can be found in the ARP table, so I guess
networking is not on yet before the freeze, or so? Now there was an
update for kernel 2.6.38-7 (instead of -6) but the same problem. Btw,
it's nice to mention that magic sysreq keys seems to work (at least alt-
sysreq-b reboots
