Same problem here... Brand new installation of Kubuntu, resized konsole
and wham, total system freeze... If I disable transparency, the system
does not freeze, but results in strange artifacts all over the screen...

Using the latest 2.6.38 kernel from Natty stable this message popped up
in dmesg a few times every hour (my system always coming to a complete

I do agree with Bob Tanner, Nvidia did provide a good driver for a long time
and nvidia cards work the best under linux!
They made a mistake that will be fixed in their next release.

--notransparency for konsole command

I have this problem on my AMD Radeon HD4830. I installed fglrx, the
problem is gone, but Compiz effects became slow and sluggish, and
overall boot time became longer, so I switched back to the open source
driver. I hope it gets fixed.

evtouch? For my Fujitsu 1510, evtouch worked without a hitch. I've
been unable to get evdev to work or recognize my touchscreen.
