This past friday, I rebooted by ubuntu system. It came up and I was able
to log in, but the screen was not rendering properly. The unity menu on
the right was basically invisible, the top menu bar was not rendering,

I had similar problem when I used the Leadtek nVidia GT220 graphic card
on my desktop with the nVidia proprietary driver available from the
Ubuntu repository.
The problem disappeared after I:
- physically removed the Leadtek nVidia GT220 from my desktop
- uninstalled the nVidia proprietary driver
errg. This bug is a real bear when I've just finished entering notes
into a patient's chart. It seems to be totally random, though, I cannot
connect the crash to any distinct user behavior.

for having a grphic-mode, I have switched back to the experimental
noveau-driver and this works for me. This driver is correctly recognized
and in use. I see it as the best solution just for the moment. But for
solving this completely, the package, I mentioned above has to be reput

Regarding your workaround, I use the laptop only on power (not on
battery) and in my case the logout problem still happens. So I think

sorry for replying late: I didn't have the corruption lately as I
switched to the old gnome window manager. Now, when running Unity I
can't reproduce the 'disappeared' panel, but it is now constantly 'semi-
transparent'. So, I cannot complete the bug anymore.

I can confirm this happens over on my side too. Im using a Sony Vaio NR series
notebook with an integrated intel card. The auto logouts usually happen when
im using Firefox. One minute im browsing, the next im greeted with the login

In latest Ubuntu version 11.04, the X server is segfaulting when I try
to login in in gdm. Please the Xorg.log.0.old attached.
On the same computer, ubuntu 10.10 is working fine, preventing me to
upgrade.

Importance:
Sorry for the above. I am not an experienced user launchpad as well as
my English is not good ... In the future I'll be more careful.
In other distributions of linux, such as the debian wheezy, do not face
a similar problem with suspend. Not to 10.10.

when full screen is clicked, video crashes and brings me back to log
Same problem here, using an integrated Intel GPU.
I have a nVidia too, it's normally switched of (due to the lack of Optimus
support), but i was wondering if using it is increasing the blackscreen
problems?

Since I upgraded to natty, the greater symbol changed to the ellipsis
symbol on the period key, what I consider as a bug as I and many others
I know use that key the old way..
There are less / greater keys on Hungarian layout also o
