Before, the error message was just an annoyance, but now it apparently
kills compiz and leaves you with a very ugly looking desktop. Combined
with other bugs for nVida in a dual monitor setup, Oneiric is just about
unusable for me

I just checked the Ubuntu live DVD (instead of Xubuntu) and get the
exact same behavior. I attached the output of lspci in hopes that this
helps track down the source of the problem.

from the ATI website, it solved the bar problem but created a new issue.
Now, whenever I run Skype, the notification bar becomes unstable. The

I have exactly the same issue on my core i5-2520M with hd 3000 sandy
bridge graphics.
These artifacts are very annoying and only occur at the edges of
transparent textures, like you will see on the screenchot.
Same thing occurs in Osmos, but only edges of all textures are visible.

Workspace switcher shows
I have the same problem on a Dell 5150 dual monitor which I use at work,
have to hard reset the machine at least once a day since Natty, I
thought I'd give it till 11.10 to see if the problem was fixed. Nope.
The windows users love it every time i have to reset the machine or
service gdm restart
I am running 11.10 right now with the default nouveau drivers. Unity
works (11.10 doesn't need 3D apparently) . Everything stable. I don't
need the nvidia proprietary drivers anymore. Yipp!

what you see is unity crashing ... this should be fixed by the most recent
updates.
Did you really update your system? Went your nvidia update correct (dkms)?

document. Unfortunately, the window becomes corrupted. Portions of the
closed document are left in the window background.
