I can confirm this. You can flip over to a console using ALT-CTL-F1 and
then login, become root and use the "shutdown -h now" command and see
the kernel oops a la fglrx.

I've tested this on my own fujitsu t4410, which is working fine now.
Able to use pressure sensitive drawing and erasing using stylus and
eraser devices in gimp. It did not use to work out of the box, so I
think this got fixed within the past year or two.
Going to assume yours is fixed as well. I
I removed (and purged) the Proprietary ATI Driver (12.3) and installed
the fglrx from the ubuntu repositories and - aparently - the issue is
solved.

Since upstream didn't seem interested in studying the issue further, I
just scrapped the memory in favor of certified sticks. If you need me

I would question the above comment about it being fixed in kernel 3.3 -
I tried upgrading to mainline 3.3.1 and was still seeing the same
behaviour. The pauses were smaller, but still in evidence.
It's a shame, but it looks like I'll have to keep using the nvidia

Unity should have stayed in the Ubuntu Netbook Remix where it belongs, but

I feel this bug is miscategorized. These man pages should not come from
Mesa, for two reasons:
. not all systems use Mesa; some systems utilize the proprietary drivers, and
they should be able to install these manpages as well.
. Mesa is not the 'upstream' for these manpages, even if they happ
Not it improved the performance...
It seems a shared memory issue, with 256 MB OR Auto in Bios configured
every animation stop and goes; but with 128 MB, everything works fine.
