When it was happening to me, I believe an alternative was to login via SSH
and kill the X11 desktop session (including the display driver). In my
case it was usually quicker to login and just issue a reboot command.

since libdrm 2.6.33, experimental support for OMAP DRM has been merged
upstream, so we now need to update the packaging in ubuntu to build this
-omap package. that basically should require to enable --enable-omap-
experimental-api in the makefile and add libdrm-omap1 in
note that migrating to 2.6.35 or potentially the upcoming 2.6.36 would
be much better from an OMAP perspectives.

I can confirm the same behaviour on my laptop.
I changed the permissions to /etc/X11/xorg.conf (sudo chmod 666
/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and tried again but still not able to save the setting
changes.
I WAS able to save the changes when starting nvidia settings as root (sudo
nvidia-settings).

When trying to install libxkbfile1:i386 the pkg manager asks to remove
Now I can reproduce the matter 100% of the time. I have a Thinkpad X201
with Intel graphics of course.
I am running the latest and greatest packages as of June 19 1:00 UTC
including the latest 3.2-26 kernel . I get this in the log file.
