I have a Lenovo X220 running Ubuntu 12.10

Running in dual monitor mode. (External Acer G215H + Laptop Screen)
When my battery is low and Ubuntu gives a warning low power message, I
plug in my adapter.
I think the biggest issue with this bug is that without the splash
screen, I see errors and ugly all over the screen. It doesn't bother me
personally, because my system works fine. But to a new or inexperienced
user, this may make them think something is wrong. At the very least,

I have the same issue.
My machine is not a laptop but uses mobile CPU.
With Precise, VGA works but DVI and HDMI do not work.
I know the machine worked just fine with Lucid.
So, I downgraded xorg to Lucid. It does not fix the problem.
I brought back xorg to Precise.
I also tried the tip of xorg
Gen7: Ivybridge likely affected too.

I worked around this bug in the end by adding the following script
into /etc/pm/sleep.d directory. I created this script in July, and
have never seen the problem recur since. I'm using an Acer 1810tz
laptop.

I'm getting exactly the same problem. This happened right after I
changed my account settings so it would log in without asking a password
- I don't know whether this is related, but I haven't seen anything like
this before.
