After upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 my PC stopped booting into the login
screen, but instead showed that failsafe X has to be used because my

For me too. I'm using ubuntu 13.10 and the display freezes (mostly after
playing a lot of videos on chrome). I just can move the cursor but I
can't perform clicks or text input. Sometimes switching to the tty and
restart lightdm works but sometimes I have to restart my computer.
