For me, I found it's gnome-shell freeze everything. I just Ctrl+F1 and
run killall -9 gnome-shell, and Ctrl+F7 go back, everything works

I started with compiling kernel v.3.8 19f949f from
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git.
When I boot my PC with kernel 3.8 lightdm doesn't even start and I get a black
screen, I am attaching dmesg from booting on kernel 3.8.
After re-booting on Ubuntu kernel again I

I finally got around to burning a dvd with that software, The results
are the same as before:
See attatchments for screen shot and ipc of displays. One further note:
the screen identifier for the dell screen also appears on the AOC
monitor, as if the actual data is written

Mouse Flickering after adding

I downloaded and installed trusty. I installed the 331.38 nvidia driver,
updated the system with 'Software Updater', and rebooted.
I'm not able to set separate X screens because there's a bug on nvidia-
settings that won't allow me to save the configuration (option: 'Save to
X Configuration
The offending validation check has been removed, moved and changed in this
proposal:

Unfortunately, without details of what the invalid format being used
was, I can't tell if the issue is fixed or could simply reoccur in a new
location.

After updating to xserver-xorg-xmir 2:1.15.0-1ubuntu6 on Feb 13th the
system reboots without problems. A whole set of mir packages went
through at the same time; don't know if Daniel's fix was included, but
something fixed my problem at least.

Same problem here and on 3 other laptops in my lab (2x thinkpad and 1x
macbook air).
My Macbook Pro 11.3 has Kernel 3.13. When the screen freezes, sound
(e.g., skype) still works and I can move the mouse but not click.
I 'solve' this by going to the terminal and restarting lightdm:
