I recommend configuring i915.semaphores=0. I did it and it doesn't freeze

THis log file shows the intel driver being loaded. Since I uninstalled
the intel driver and have been running on VESA I have not had a single
crash. Over a month now.

I have the exact same issue as the reporter with my Thinkpad X1 Carbon,
which has a Intel card. So it's not Nvidia specifc. The terminal
workaround works as well here.
