Ok, somehow ``ldconfig -v`` searches and presumably finds the mesa
driver first, but ``ldconfig -p`` lists fglrx before mesa. Thus, there
is no problem here (except my understanding of why -v and -p orders are
not consistent).
I still think it's ugly that ``libgtkglext1-dev`` depends on ``libgl1

After bisecting the dist-upgrade, apt-mark holding various packages
until I found the culprit.
It's either xserver-common, xserver-xorg-core, or xvfb (probably not the
latter).
If I unhold the first two and dist-upgrade, I see the freeze.

I can confirm this bug on ubuntu 14.04. In my case I was playing a game
in wine - Littlewitch Romanesque - and after 3-5 hours Xorg process was
eating 4 GB RAM (normally it uses 200-400 mb). I use proprietary driver
from fglrx-updates.

Hi,
I updated the bios.
The problem still remains, but the occurence time has reduced.
Now I have the problem only once a day.
If can be usefull, please consider that the problem does not appear
inside external applications windows. For example, VirtualBox sessions
are not affected by the issue.
When I added an xorg.conf file the "fallback errors" went away. I am
thinking there may be some issue with Xorg loading the correct drivers??
However the colors are still all off. I am attach the new the log and my
xorg.conf file.

Same problem with Lenovo Yoga 3 11. Ubuntu 15.04, even with latest Linux
