Hi maries, thanks for reporting the bug, I linked it upstream for it to
be review over there. Just wondering, the programs freeze when you try
to open them right? Did you try restarting your computer and trying
again? Its to make sure the bug belongs to Ubuntu

Not using Variety (a background image desktop changer) reduces
drastically the frequence of crashes. (But xorg still crashes).

Problem is still there. Additionally the mouse pointer tends to get
invisible on my computer. My graphics card is:

I plugged in the using the USB port it lights up for a second then goes off
completely. I'm using a wireless mouse other than this one and it works just
fine, but I want the convenience of switching between a wireless battery
dependent mouse and a simple cheap one for home

Logitech Wireless Mouse M560 buttons Back, Forward
Thanks Philip. The link to Ubuntu 15.10 boot hangs when starting lightdm
helped me too. I had my system set to auto login to my user account but
I could not log out or disable the auto login without having lightdm
hang on startup. Now I can logout again!
