@Francis: As far I can tell this is not fixed in 16.04 yet. But you
could try the xserver-xorg-video-intel package from the oibaf PPA, which
follows the upstream git repo closely (i.e. nightly git snapshots), and
should contain the relevant patches/commits.
You probably don't want all the other
I've just downgrade xserver back to 2:1.17.3-2ubuntu4 (and the
input/video drivers to compatible previous versions) and no longer see
this bug on kernel 4.4.0-13-generic

In Xubuntu 14.04.04 on an [HP Pavilion dv3-1075us] laptop, I am seeing
this symptom. That is, when I suspend for a long period of time (E.g.
overnight), the mouse is functional but the cursor has disappeared.
Resuming after suspending only a short period of time (E.g. 10 seconds)

Public bug reported:
I'm using the Nouveau driver with my graphics board (Geforce GT210),
standby mode (a.k.a. suspend-to-ram) does not work from 13 March 2016.
Initially it worked fine until 13 March 2016.
Going into standby mode itself works, but when I turn my PC back on, the
monitor shows
