2. Lenovo ThinkPad T480 with Intel i7-8550U with integrated Graphics
3. Lenovo ThinkPad x220 with Intel i3-2310M with integrated Graphics

I was reticent to install some random ppa. But since compiling it myself
would be some adventure. I removed my personal stuff and other data,
changed passwords and then installed the kisak ppa.
And it seems to work without issue. Just as well as in 20.04.5.
The current version in the ppa is
Hope this helps for now.

It happened again, this time on the Lubuntu desktop, and this time I'm
pretty sure there was a crash file with "xorg" in the name, but running

Anyway, it seems it wasn't the only thing that crashed, so might as well

* I think brightness-controller is a thin UI around xrandr. If something in
Ubuntu is improperly changing "Brightness" and xrandr is the only cure, why
remove brightness-controller? Or, do your comments about it apply equally to
xrandr -- namely that I should avoid xrandr,

You have been subscribed to a public bug:
After installing Ubuntu 20.04 on my laptop, if the laptop suspends due
to closing the lid or not using the laptop for some time and once I
press any key to resume from the suspend, the laptop shows a blank
screen and is unresponsive to any button presses.
Public bug reported:
When booting the system, sometimes the system freezes (HP logo, Ubuntu logo and
stopped rotating symbol), and can't do anything not even ping the system.
After zero or a few re-try's I get to the login screen.
It is then possible to log in via ssh from another system.
