Both of the above pictures are from me booting in recovery mode, where
it still crashes. That likely means it can't be an xorg bug?

When I switch to a text console using C-A-F1, I see a corrupted display
(the text console's text is completely non-present; only a mosaic of
random other colors is visible). Switching back to X restores the
display, but the text console is unusable like this.

gnome-display-properties to configure my multiple monitors (2 x

screen resolution detection regression in Jaunty
On my Jaunty box, I installed only the Karmic kernel (linux-
image-2.6.30-10-generic_2.6.30-10.12_amd64.deb), and with all other
packages being Jaunty-based, I can reproduce this same problem --
keyboard and mouse lock up when X starts.
