I assume you mean /etc/X11/xorg.conf. It does not contain the Composite
extension. Is that good or bad? I will attach the entire xorg.conf file.

As a result of the crash almost all the top right menus are gone (even
after a reboot). Only the blueooth and network icons are still there.
The volume icon, system menu, message menu, etc. are gone, so I can't
even log out or restart normally anymore. How can I get them back?

I don't think this is specific to NVidia.
I discovered that there is a tool which is supposed to test for Unity 3D

If Unity 3D does not support Xinerama, then perhaps unity_support_test
should check for that?

Could this have something to do with IRQ routing? I noticed on some
other thread somebody saying that uninstalling the irqbalance daemon
made the freezes go away. An IRQ routing problem might explain the
randomness of the freezes, as everybody has different hardware on
different IRQ's. If the

I've been running irqbalance --debug in a console for a while now, and I
can see it moving interrupts around between cores. Possibly whenever it
does this it could sometimes go wrong or cause problems? OK, I'll stop
my uninformed speculation now, but maybe this is of some use to someone
