This issue depends on the application used ! You get it with Gnome-text-
editor or LO Writer but not in Firefox Web browser (snap). Because the
good libraries are embedded with the snap ?

When I save different files (LibreOffice Writer and PDF) in the desktop folder,
then delete them, the desktop doesn't refresh : the deleted files stay
displayed on the desktop (the screen) (despite they don't appear anymore in
Nautilus).

Same problem here with a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 64 bits, with Phenom
processor and Radeon 6850 graphic card.
Either fglrx or fglrx-update open a session without Unity : no launcher, no
dash.
