The system has just displayed the error message, it didn't lock up. I haven't
experienced this bug in Maverick.
Also, the S-video output was simply black screen, though the desktop got wider
in Compiz (see bug #763688). I haven't tried to reproduce it yet but I will do
it ASAP.

And when I tried to install stuff from apw's purple PPA, I got "read-

Thanks to Ubiquity fixes that landed today, I've installed the complete
OS on a USB flash disk, but it did some really weird things; "nomodeset"
option didn't fix the installed system, though it did fix the LiveCD
boot. The problem is in GDM now; even with nomodeset option I get Compiz

After dist-upgrade to the latest natty, gdm greeter doesn't appear. The
screen is blank with only the mouse cursor.
If I rollback xserver-xorg-video-intel to 2.13.901-2ubuntu3 the issue
goes away.

syndaemon polls 5 times
Hi.
I reported this bug here five years ago, gathered the info in 2006-2007
and watched the logs all those years. I really happy it is fixed in
