[RV250] Regression: Screen
I tested this on Ubuntu 12.04 now and since I can't reproduce the bug
anymore I wanted to close this report - but I don't know how (is 'Fix

fixed?). Please close this report. Thanks!

I can reproduce this bug with this graphics card (with compiz KMS):

I marked this bug as duplicate of bug #771370 some months ago but since

In the meantime I found a much better way to avoid the screen
corruptions: Just use…
Option EXAPixmapsoff
…in the 'Device'-section of your xorg.conf. Compared to Option
RenderAccel off the performance is just amazing.
@ Glen Colquhoun: Are you still affected by this bug?
I don't think that bug 789962 is a duplicate of this bug – I think it
makes sense to keep those bug reports apart since different graphics
cards are affected the corruptions look different…

I'm noticing massive swap-usage… – maybe it has something to do with

parts of the gnome panel and 2,9GB of swap are in use. I was just

I can confirm that - since I installed lucid's kernel (linux-
image-2.6.32-13-386) the screen artifacts disappeared ( KMS is enabled
by default). Besides, the performance of my ATI card is really amazing
now... It's like I got a new notebook :) Thanks!!

I can confirm this bug (with another ATI card - see below). Forcing the
card into PCI mode using the driver option 'radeon.agpmode=-1' is the
only solution for me (even though performance suffers); I tried AGP
modes 1, 2, 4 without any results; option 'EXANoDownloadFromScreen'
didn't work for me
